Responsibilities
As a Group Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a highimpact engineering organization chartered with building services and tools research needs to deliver the next generation of protection, research, and disruption capabilities at scale. You will:
- Provide strategic and technical leadership, defining longterm architecture, investments, and success metrics across your areas of ownership.
- Build, mentor, and develop a diverse engineering teamdriving clarity, engineering discipline, securebydesign practices, and a strong culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Partner closely with engineering, research, product, and crosssecurity teams to design and deliver endtoend security capabilities that land measurable customer outcomes.
- Establish and operationalize team OKRs/bowlers, service instrumentation, cost optimization, and operational excellence to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance.
- Lead resource planning, quarterly/monthly execution, and crossteam dependency management to deliver highquality solutions on time.
- Continuously improve engineering excellence through automation, CI/CD, governance, threat modeling, and telemetrydriven insights.
- Champion and accelerate adoption of AI across security research and engineering workflows.
- Foster a datadriven culture built on trust, transparency, shared ownership, and growth mindsetreflective of Microsoft's manager expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- 15+ years of experience building and operating largescale commercial software systems.
- 4+ years designing scalable, distributed, cloudbased services.
- 4+ years delivering microservicesdriven architectures.
- Demonstrated excellence in debugging, problemsolving, and systems thinking.
- Strong knowledge of secure software development lifecycle principles.
- Familiarity with modern engineering toolchains (Git, build/validation systems, telemetry/monitoring, project tracking, lifecycle management).
- Ability to work independently, manage complex architectural dependencies, and drive clarity in ambiguous spaces.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Leadership & Engineering Competencies
- Proven ability to develop, coach, and grow engineering talent through structured rhythms (design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, feedback mechanisms).
- Experience setting technical vision and aligning multidisciplinary teams across research, engineering, PM, and design.
- Expertise operationalizing engineering systems for reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to build inclusive, collaborative cultures that celebrate diverse experiences and perspectives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence deeply technical and executivelevel stakeholders.
