Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Engineer with 10+ years of software engineering expertise and a strong background in designing and scaling AI-driven and data-intensive systems. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with architectural leadership, client-facing capabilities, and a passion for engineering excellence. This role involves driving technical strategy, mentoring engineering teams, and building scalable cloud-native solutions while balancing business priorities with sound engineering practices.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, Lead Architect, or similar leadership role.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java.
- Proven experience designing and building large-scale AI and data-intensive systems.
- Experience with data processing architectures, including ETL pipelines, streaming systems, and data lakes.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures.
- Practical experience with Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD, Pair Programming, and CI/CD.
- Excellent stakeholder management, client communication, and consulting skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic approach to balancing technical excellence and business needs.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, LLM integrations, or MLOps is a plus.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or Flink is preferred.
- Previous experience in a consulting or services organization is an advantage.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, cloud-native AI and data platforms that support business growth and innovation.
- Lead technical decision-making, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Build and optimize data-intensive applications, distributed systems, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, translating complex technical concepts into business value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, evaluate solution feasibility, and manage expectations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams through code reviews, architecture reviews, and coaching.
- Champion engineering best practices, including clean code principles, automated testing, CI/CD, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Product Owners and Engineering Managers to ensure successful delivery and smooth sprint execution.
- Drive the adoption and evolution of Extreme Programming (XP) practices across teams.
- Support technical pre-sales activities, solution design discussions, and client engagements when required.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to architecture, development processes, and engineering practices.
