About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Engineer to drive the architecture, design, and development of our next-generation AI-enabled, cloud-native products. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering strategy, and delivering scalable, high-quality software.

As a Principal Engineer, you will define technical direction, lead architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to build innovative products. You will also play a key role in driving AI adoption across the engineering organization by integrating Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) into production applications and engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of large-scale, cloud-native applications.
• Design and build scalable backend systems using Python and FastAPI.
• Develop modern, responsive frontend applications using React.
• Drive end-to-end product development, from architecture and technical design to deployment and production support.
• Define technical standards, engineering best practices, and architectural guidelines across teams.
• Build and integrate AI-powered capabilities using LLMs, Generative AI, and AI Agents into customer-facing products.
• Champion AI-assisted software development and leverage AI tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Architect and optimize applications on AWS, utilizing cloud-native and serverless services.
• Design scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
• Lead PostgreSQL database architecture, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams to deliver business-critical features.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews.
• Drive engineering excellence by promoting clean code, automation, testing, observability, and DevOps best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering with significant experience building enterprise-scale products.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and extensive hands-on experience with FastAPI.
• Strong Full Stack development experience with approximately 70% Backend and 30% Frontend (React).
• Deep expertise in designing scalable backend systems, RESTful APIs, and distributed architectures.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js and modern frontend development.
• Extensive experience with AWS, including cloud-native architectures, infrastructure, networking, serverless services, and deployment automation.
• Proven experience building and deploying AI-enabled applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents, and modern AI frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI-assisted software development tools and modern engineering workflows.
• Advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, schema management, indexing, migrations, performance optimization, and operational best practices.
• Experience designing highly scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and lead complex engineering initiatives across multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a high-growth SaaS or product engineering organization.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation), and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and messaging systems.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms and large-scale distributed systems.
