Switching Group - Focused on OpenSource
SONiC is an open source network operating system based on Linux that runs on switches from multiple vendors and ASICs. SONiC offers a full-suite of network functionality, like BGP and RDMA, that has been production-hardened in the data-centers of some of the largest cloud-service providers. It offers teams the flexibility to create the network solutions they need while leveraging the collective strength of a large ecosystem and community.
This position is for an R&D engineer to be involved in the development of solutions for DataCenter and Enterprise networks on products for Marvell Terlaynx and Prestera packet processors family integrating SAI/SONIC open NOS. Contribute to and lead all phases of software development from requirement gathering through implementation, UT/Functional testing and maintaining multiple code modules.Be part of creating innovative solutions for complex technical problems.

What You Can Expect

  • Technical leader on a fast-paced project team of R&D engineers involved in the development of cloud Datacenter products of Marvell packet processors family.

  • Contribute to and lead all phases of software development from requirement gathering through architect/design, implementation, UT/Functional testing and maintaining multiple software components.

  • Contribute to the development of aggressive project goals and schedules.

  • Demonstrate technical leadership and execute projects across a highly distributed engineering team.

  • Work with various cross-functional groups such as Architect, other development teams, QA/Validation, System Test, Product Management, Product Documentation, Customer teams

  • Responsible to mentor and train the team

  • Required Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive technical depth in L2 and L3 Ethernet switching and routing protocols.

  • Extensive experience in programming languages such as C/C++/Python

  • Hands on experience on switch/router embedded system software development

  • Experience architecting innovative, scalable Linux based Embedded products.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of audiences spanning executives to junior engineers

  • Proven ability to successfully lead distributed teams and run projects across multiple locations

  • Working experience in L2 switching/forwarding areas such as LAG, VLAN, xSTP, LLDP, Link OAM, ARP, VxLAN, DC fabric switching, etc

  • Working experience in L3 unicast/multicast routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, IGMP, BGP, ISIS, etc

  • Working experience in areas like ACL, QoS, Policers, TCAM, etc

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields and 8-15 years of related professional experience.
  • Master's degree and/or PhD in Computer Science or related fields with 5 - 10 years of experience.
  • We are looking for technology passionate engineers with focus on execution and quality to help innovate and develop highly scalable and distributed embedded network software.
