Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as senior technical resource and technical advisor for the team
- Provide specialised technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
- Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
- Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
- Use expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
- Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings
- Prepare technical specification sections
- Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
- Lead the design of HVAC systems for healthcare facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare standards and regulations
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for infection control and air quality management in medical environments
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and technical expertise
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HVAC designs with other building systems
- Conduct energy modelling and analysis to optimise system performance and reduce environmental impact
- Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met and designs are effectively implemented
- Oversee the commissioning process for HVAC systems in healthcare projects
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in HVAC design for healthcare applications
Qualifications
- BE in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience working in Mechanical Engineering design, with a focus on HVAC systems for healthcare facilities.
- Experience in the UK & UAE Building projects, particularly in the healthcare sector.
- Proven track record in the design of Health Care, residential, commercial, retail and hospitality sectors.
- Advanced knowledge of software applications including IES, HAP, Trace, Elite, MEP Revit, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers in HVAC design and engineering principles.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare-specific HVAC requirements, including infection control and air quality management.
- Familiarity with relevant healthcare standards and regulations in the UK and UAE, such as HTM 03-01 and ASHRAE Standard 170.
- Experience in energy modelling and analysis for optimising HVAC system performance in healthcare settings.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, architects, and contractors.
- Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent professional body.
- LEED or BREEAM accreditation is highly desirable.
