Principal Software Engineer [Backend Node.js Dev]

Exp: 9+ years

Location: Hyderabad, work from office 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the architectural strategy, design, and development of highly scalable, resilient backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. Take end-to-end ownership of backend services.
• Write highly optimized, clean, maintainable, and testable code, and establish engineering best practices and coding standards for the team.
• Spearhead cross-functional architectural reviews, technical design discussions, and code reviews. Take ownership of key technical decisions.
• Architect and evolve complex distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices ecosystems, ensuring fault tolerance, high availability, and low latency.
• Design robust, cost-effective, and highly scalable cloud-native solutions using AWS services, ensuring multi-region reliability.
• Define and enforce the standards for high performance, scalability, and security of production-grade backend systems.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps/SREs team for deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
• Leverage deep expertise in distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms to solve the organization's complex engineering and scaling challenges.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment across product goals.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical innovation, and collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 9+ years of hands-on backend development experience, with a proven track record in a Principal, Staff, or Architectural role.
• Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of their internal workings and performance optimization.
• Extensive experience designing robust, versioned, and developer-friendly APIs, utilizing tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Hands on experience writing robust unit tests and integration tests.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools to design and manage scalable infrastructure architectures.
• Deep expertise in the AWS ecosystem (including SQS, SNS, ECS, S3, Route53, Lambda, and DynamoDB) and designing highly resilient cloud architectures.
• Expert knowledge of database design, optimization, and scaling across both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB) paradigms.
• Proven experience architecting, building, and scaling complex distributed, event-driven systems capable of handling high throughput and massive concurrency.
• Experience building & maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions or equivalent.
• Deep expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes / ECS) at an enterprise scale.
• Experience with observability, telemetry, and monitoring (CloudWatch, Grafana, etc.) to proactively identify bottlenecks and ensure system health.
• Mastery of software design patterns, system architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex, cross-service issues in high-stakes production environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
