Role Description
We are seeking a highly accomplished and leadership-driven Principal Engineer – Civil & Structural (C&S) to join our Navi Mumbai (HVEC) office. This role is pivotal in driving engineering excellence, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality project delivery across global EPC assignments.
The Principal Engineer will be responsible for technical governance, resource strategy, engineering execution, and stakeholder engagement across multiple concurrent projects. This position demands strong expertise in civil and structural engineering design, global delivery exposure, and the ability to lead complex engineering programs from concept through detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Civil & Structural engineers and designers, ensuring high performance and technical competency.
- Provide technical leadership across all engineering phases including Concept, FEED/Basic Engineering, and Detailed Engineering.
- Oversee development and review of engineering deliverables such as site development plans, grading, stormwater management systems, hydrologic and hydraulic models, SWPPP documentation, and drainage reports.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, design practices, and quality assurance processes within the department.
- Drive engineering governance, ensuring compliance with applicable national and international codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Manage resource planning, allocation, and utilization aligned with project schedules and business priorities.
- Develop and maintain team competency frameworks; identify skill gaps and implement structured training and upskilling initiatives.
- Review and approve engineering work-hour estimates, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to project budgets and timelines.
- Coordinate with global offices in a workshare environment, ensuring seamless integration of engineering deliverables.
- Lead technical bid evaluations, vendor data reviews, and support procurement activities.
- Interface effectively with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment.
- Contribute to proposal engineering, including scope definition, estimation, and technical strategy.
- Promote continuous improvement by developing and implementing new methodologies, tools, and work processes.
Technical Expertise Required
- Strong proficiency in Civil & Structural engineering design, including industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Experience with engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, Civil 3D, Naviworks, Revit and familiarity with other CAD software.
- Expertise in hydrology and hydraulic design, drainage systems, and site development engineering.
- Sound understanding of project controls including scheduling, productivity tracking, and work-hour management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory); Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in Underground Utilities EPC or engineering consultancy, with significant exposure to Oil and Gas, Land Development, Industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE, IS codes, USA Codes as applicable).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
