Role Overview:

This role is designed for a highly experienced Oracle Utilities Technical Architect with strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration, Cloud Infrastructure (OCI/AWS), and IMS Run & Maintain operations. The position focuses on supporting mission-critical Oracle Utilities platforms in 24x7 production environments, ensuring high availability, performance, stability, and compliance.

The role requires deep hands-on involvement across the Oracle Utilities technology stack, including CC&B, MDM, WAM, MWM, and OUAF, along with close collaboration with application, infrastructure, and customer teams in a managed services (IMS) model.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support & IMS Operations

  • Provide 24x7 Run & Maintain (IMS) support for Oracle Utilities environments across production and non-production instances.
  • Act as a Technical Architect / Senior SME for Oracle Utilities platforms, ensuring platform stability and operational excellence.
  • Own incident, problem, change, and release management activities in line with ITIL processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and implement preventive actions.

Database Administration

  • Administer and support Oracle 19c/21c databases for Oracle Utilities applications on Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Manage RAC, ASM, RMAN, database security, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Execute database backup, recovery, cloning, refreshes, and migrations using RMAN and Data Pump.
  • Proactively monitor database health using OEM and address performance bottlenecks (AWR/ASH/SQL tuning).

Cloud & Infrastructure Support

  • Administer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments supporting Oracle Utilities workloads.
  • Provide working-level support for AWS in hybrid cloud setups (EC2, storage, networking, monitoring).
  • Support IaaS/PaaS provisioning, cloud migrations, and environment automation.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience across cloud and on-prem environments.

Middleware & Application Stack

  • Support middleware components such as WebLogic, SOA, and integrations used by Oracle Utilities solutions.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of Oracle Utilities applications (CC&B, MDM, WAM, MWM, OUAF).
  • Work closely with application and functional teams to support batch processing, integrations, and interfaces.

Automation, Monitoring & Governance

  • Implement automation and scripting using Unix Shell scripting to improve operational efficiency.
  • Configure and manage OEM and cloud-native monitoring tools for alerts, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Support capacity planning, performance optimization, and security compliance.
  • Maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture documents, and knowledge base artifacts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN
    • Database performance tuning (AWR, ASH, SQL tuning)
    • Oracle Utilities database architectures
  • 2+ years of experience supporting OCI (mandatory for IDC roles).
  • Exposure to AWS in hybrid environments is preferred.
  • Solid Unix/Linux administration and shell scripting skills.
  • Experience working in IMS / Managed Services delivery models.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and operational governance.
  • Exposure to middleware technologies (WebLogic, SOA, GoldenGate) is an advantage.
  • Strong customer-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in 24x7 production environments and handle critical situations effectively.
