Key Responsibilities
- Exploration Leadership: Plan, lead, and execute geological exploration programs (greenfield & brownfield) for non-coal commodities; ensure adherence to industry best practices, operational standards, and safety protocols.
- Advanced Geological Modeling: Develop and implement 2D/3D geological models to assess deposit geometry, grade distribution, and viability; integrate geostatistics to optimize resource extraction strategies.
- Surveys & Mapping: Conduct detailed geological mapping, sampling, trenching, auger drilling, RC/DDH supervision, and core logging to delineate mineralized zones and identify new targets.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with mine planning, metallurgy, environment, and operations teams to translate exploration findings into practical mining strategies and operational plans.
- Technology & Data: Utilize cutting-edge technologies and software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine/Studio RM, Micromine, Surpac, Maptek, ArcGIS/QGIS) for data analysis, resource estimation, and geological interpretation; establish QA/QC protocols for data integrity.
- Technical Mentorship: Provide domain guidance and mentorship to junior geologists and field teams; foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Reporting & Governance: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, resource statements, and presentations on exploration progress, outcomes, and recommendations for senior management; support internal/external audits.
- Environmental Stewardship: Monitor and evaluate environmental impacts of exploration activities; ensure sustainable and responsible practices aligned with applicable regulations and ESG goals.
- Regulatory Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes; ensure compliance in resource classification and disclosure.
- Strategic Support: Support the Technical Head in long-term strategy, project prioritization, portfolio risk management, and capital allocation decisions for non-coal mineral resource development.
