Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Building Physicist to join our team. This is a senior delivery role, not a training position. You will lead a team of 4-6, take responsibility for project outcomes, and ensure technical excellence in building performance modelling.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of four building physicists, providing guidance and support.
- Deliver complex building performance simulations using IESVE (minimum 5 years of direct project experience required).
- Oversee project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants on the projects.
- Carry out HVAC design analysis and optimisation (experience preferred).
- Ensure compliance with sustainability standards and client requirements.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience with IESVE – essential.
- Proven track record of delivering building physics projects (not a learning role).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing small technical teams.
- UK project experience including but limited to:
- Part L compliance modelling
- Overheating assessments
- BREEAM modelling
- Planning application modelling
- Daylight and shadow modelling
- NABERS HVAC modelling
- Other project experience including:
- LEED certification modelling
- Estidama Pearl Rating System
- Mostadam sustainability framework modelling
- Detailed modelling experience using ApHVAC module in IESVE
Experience with Ladybug Tools and OneClick LCA is a plus.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
