Role Description The Principal BIM Technician role at WSP in Bengaluru is a full-time, on-site position responsible for leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) production and coordination on multidisciplinary projects. This role includes developing and managing BIM models, overseeing drawing production, and ensuring adherence to WSP standards, client requirements, and industry best practices. The Principal BIM Technician will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to resolve design coordination issues, maintain model integrity, and support efficient project delivery. Daily activities also involve mentoring junior BIM technicians, supporting process improvements, and contributing to the implementation of new digital tools and workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in BIM authoring and coordination tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD) and related design software.
- Experience in model setup, model management, clash detection, and drawing production for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of BIM standards, protocols, and documentation (e.g., BIM Execution Plans, model naming conventions, level of development definitions).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with project stakeholders, and provide guidance to junior staff.
- Relevant technical qualification in engineering, architecture, or drafting (e.g., diploma or degree in civil, structural, MEP, or architectural fields).
- Experience in leading BIM delivery on complex projects, preferably within a global or large consultancy environment.
- Familiarity with international design codes, digital workflows, and common data environments (e.g., BIM 360, ProjectWise) is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced project setting.
- Previous experience in a Principal or senior BIM technician role and exposure to mentoring or team leadership responsibilities is highly beneficial.
