About the Role:

We're looking for a Principal Architect who can define, evolve, and scale the technical architecture of Amura's HealthTech platform.

This role is ideal for a hands-on architect who combines deep technical expertise with long-term thinking, strong ownership, and a desire to create meaningful human impact through technology.

You will work on complex architectural problems, design and scale distributed backend systems (Node.js preferred), and influence engineering excellence across teams balancing immediate delivery with long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end architecture of backend platforms and core services.
• Define and evolve reference architectures, design standards, and best practices across teams.
• Design distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures at scale.
• Make critical decisions around scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Guide teams on API design, data modeling, messaging, caching, and storage.
• Ensure systems scale reliably as users, data, and traffic grow.
• Partner closely with DevOps / SRE on AWS cloud architecture, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Define and uphold non-functional requirements (SLOs, SLIs, latency, throughput, uptime).
• Embed security and compliance considerations into architectural decisions.
• Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making forums.
• Act as a technical mentor to Tech Leads and Senior Engineers.
• Collaborate with product leaders to translate business needs into scalable, resilient systems.

Requirements:

• 1013+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in architecture or principal-level roles.
• Deep expertise in backend system design and distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js (preferred), or Java / Python.
• Proven experience designing and scaling systems in AWS cloud environments.

Strong understanding of:

• Microservices and event-driven architectures
• REST / GraphQL APIs
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• Messaging systems (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• Caching layers (Redis, CDN)
• Experience working with CI/CD, IaC, and observability practices.
• Ability to reason deeply about trade-offs and make pragmatic architectural decisions.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
