The Preservation Tech - Helper will assist in the conservation and preservation of artifacts, ensuring their longevity and integrity. This role involves working closely with senior preservation staff to support various preservation projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preservation and conservation of artifacts and historical materials
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of preservation equipment
- Support the collection and documentation of preservation processes
- Participate in the assessment of preservation needs and strategies
- Collaborate with senior preservation staff on special projects
- Maintain accurate records of preservation activities and outcomes
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Conservation, Museum Studies, or related field preferred
- 1-5 years of experience in preservation or conservation roles
- Knowledge of preservation techniques and materials
- Familiarity with archival practices and standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic understanding of historical artifacts and their significance
