Job description
Produce and present day-to-day content, live and recorded, for BBC News Hindi. Involves originating and producing stories which may include scripting, editing, filming and presenting content and generating exciting ideas on a variety of formats including explainers, shorts, interviews and features.
May have to adapt on air to unfolding situations. Contributes to the production of digital output for the BBC News Hindi website and social platforms as and when required in a hybrid working model.
Strong command over Hindi & English is essential.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Responsible for both producing and presenting original and high-impact digital video output.
- Comfortable experimenting with emerging tools, including AI-assisted production, mobile journalism, and new formats like vertical videos or interactive explainers
- Should have a clear understanding of digital-first storytelling and audience engagement, including how to use analytics and feedback to shape future content.
- Responsible for originating, scripting, presenting and producing news and video stories which include news, shorts, explainers, interviews, features and reels.
- Bring a distinct on-camera or on-platform personality that helps build audience trust and loyalty while maintaining BBC's editorial values.
- Broadcast in a manner which is engaging, entertaining and readily understandable by a non-specialist audience, making complex issues accessible especially to a young audience.
- Generate ideas and stories; contribute to the creative treatment and be involved in the production of an item or programme; provide clear treatments and proposals, ensuring consistency of content, quality and style.
- Seek ways to increase diversity in our output that reflects the audiences we serve.
- Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
- Build and maintain diverse contact lists and networks both physical and digital to identify fresh voices and credible sources across India's social spectrum.
- To provide timely, specialist and assured news coverage and analysis of news and events of interest to the audiences of the BBC.
- Adhere to BBC's editorial guidelines, safety protocols and digital security standards, particularly while reporting from the field or online spaces.
Requirements
Knowledge, skills, training and experience
- Must be fluent in written and spoken Hindi.
- Proven experience and impact in presenting live or recorded news content, with a portfolio demonstrating creativity, credibility, and audience connection.
- Contribute to digital output whenever required in terms of planning, ideation, producing and presenting content and products such as explainers and live on specific occasions.
- Demonstrates deep awareness of platform-specific storytelling understanding what works for YouTube, Instagram, and X and how to tailor tone, pacing, and visuals to connect with diverse Indian audiences.
- Demonstrates balanced and unbiased judgement based on a thorough understanding of BBC Editorial Guidelines, target audience, programme and department objectives.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of digital technology and stays abreast of developments in the relevant fields.
- Strong team player and ability to build strong relationships with key people in Collective Newsroom and the BBC.
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving diversity in the team and understands how individual differences can benefit the organization.
- Flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and how they apply to newsgathering.
