Practice Leader – Enterprise Applications

About the Role

We're looking for a Practice Leader –Applications Development and Digital Engineering who will help our clients with approach to SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) enabling Quess to deliver agile, high-impact, and talent-rich solutions to our enterprise customers.
This is a practice-building leadership role - ideal for a technology leader who has grown in large IT services environments but wants to build from the ground up, drive COE creation, and lead with hands-on solutioning, presales and ecosystem development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Practice & COE Development
- Build and scale the Application Development & Digital Engineering practice covering full-stack engineering, microservices architecture, and cloud-native modernization. Must have atleast 5+years hands-on exp in either frontend or backend technologies such as - JAVA/Spring Boot, .NET Core/C#, Node. JS, React/Angular/REST APIs, Python, MERN Stack.
- Establish Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for emerging technologies - modern frameworks, DevOps toolchains, and application modernization accelerators.
- Define best practices for design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring agility, scalability, and quality.
- Create reusable components, templates, and playbooks that enable faster time-to-market for bespoke digital solutions.
2. Solutioning, Demos & Customer Engagement
- Lead technical solutioning, architecture reviews, and pre-sales engagements for digital engineering opportunities.
- Build and run demonstrations, prototypes, and POCs that highlight Quess's full-stack and modernization capabilities.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Account Management teams to shape application transformation roadmaps for customers.
- Lead first calls with Technology Leaders of customers, along with Sales.
- Translate customer business problems into modern architecture patterns leveraging APIs, containers, microservices, and CI/CD practices.
3. Partner Ecosystem & Enablement
- Develop strategic partnerships with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and platform partners in the digital engineering ecosystem.
- Identify relevant competency certifications and partner programs that strengthen Quess's credibility in modern app delivery.
- Create co-selling or co-innovation frameworks with OEMs and cloud providers.
4. Talent Evaluation & Capability Building
- Establish technical competency frameworks across full-stack engineering, DevOps, and app modernization.
- Evaluate candidates for critical project roles, providing pre-interview technical assessments and validation support.
- Mentor and coach delivery managers, architects, and senior engineers to build depth across new-age stacks.
- Drive internal hackathons, knowledge sessions, and capability sprints to nurture a strong digital engineering culture.
5. Business & Technology Leadership
- Collaborate with the Data & AI and Enterprise Applications practices to create integrated transformation offerings.
- Build internal thought leadership through solution artifacts, case studies, and innovation showcases.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies - generative AI in development, low-code/no-code (LCNC), platform engineering and define how they can be embedded in Quess offerings.
- Own the P&L for the practice, balancing delivery excellence, cost optimization, and talent leverage.
Ideal Background
- 12–18 years of experience in application development, modernization, or digital engineering roles.
- Proven leadership in full-stack engineering delivery (Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, Angular, React, etc.) with experience in architecting microservices-based, API-led solutions.
- Strong exposure to cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience building or leading DevOps and CI/CD enablement programs using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, etc.
- Demonstrated success in modernization engagements - legacy to cloud transformation, containerization, re-platforming, or re-architecture initiatives.
- Experience in practice creation, solution pre-sales, and partnership enablement within IT services or digital consulting organizations.
- Ability to lead customer demos and POC sessions, connecting technical capabilities to business outcomes.
