Job Overview
The Manager will play a key role in supporting the organization in its industry advocacy, public communications, stakeholder engagement and industry-wide programs.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will manage the organization's public relations and communications activities while coordinating initiatives involving member insurance companies, regulators, government agencies, industry associations and other external stakeholders.
This is abroad-based role requiring a combination of corporate communications, public relations, stakeholder management, project/program coordination, data management and secretariat/governance support. The Manager will frequently work with senior representatives from member companies and external organizations and must therefore demonstrate strong professionalism, communication skills and discretion.
KeyResponsibilities
1. Public Relations & Corporate Communications
- Manage the Association's day-to-day PR and external communications activities in partnership with the appointed external PR Consultant.
- Coordinate the preparation, review and distribution of press releases, media statements, industry announcements, speeches, talking points, FAQs and other communications materials.
- Liaise with member companies and relevant stakeholders to obtain inputs and ensure communications accurately represent the industry's position.
- Support media engagement activities, including responding to media enquiries, coordinating interviews and preparing briefing materials.
- Assist in managing communications surrounding important industry developments, regulatory announcements and consumer-related issues.
- Ensure messaging is accurate, consistent and aligned with the Association's objectives and reputation.
2. Digital Communications & Social Media
- Oversee the Association's social media platforms and digital communications in collaboration with the external PR Consultant.
- Develop and coordinate content aimed at improving consumer financial literacy and public understanding of life insurance, protection, savings, investment and retirement planning.
- Maintain an appropriate communications calendar covering campaigns, industry initiatives, announcements and events.
- Review digital content for accuracy, tone, relevance and consistency with the organization positioning.
- Monitor digital engagement and recommend ways to strengthen the Association's public outreach.
3.Stakeholder & Member Engagement
- Serve as a key coordination point between LIA and its member insurance companies, regulators, government agencies, industry associations and other external organisations.
- Coordinate member consultations and gather feedback on industry initiatives, regulatory matters and Association activities.
- Build effective working relationships with senior representatives across member organisations.
- Facilitate communication among multiple stakeholders where different companies or organisations may have different priorities.
- Consolidate stakeholder feedback and help translate discussions into clear recommendations, action items or industry positions.
- Support the Executive Director in stakeholder meetings, consultations and industry engagements.
4. Industry Programme & Project Management
- Coordinate and manage assigned industry-wide initiatives, working groups, campaigns and special projects from planning through implementation.
- Develop project timelines, coordinate stakeholders, monitor deliverables and ensure agreed actions are completed within required deadlines.
- Work across multiple member companies and external organisations to obtain information, resolve issues and maintain progress.
- Track project milestones, outstanding matters and dependencies and provide regular updates to the Executive Director and relevant committees.
- Support initiatives relating to consumer education, industry practices, regulatory developments and other matters affecting Singapore's life insurance sector.
5. Industry Surveys, Data & Reporting
- Coordinate surveys and information requests involving member insurance companies.
- Develop or administer data collection templates and follow up with members to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Collate, validate and analyse information received from member companies.
- Identify inconsistencies, missing information or unusual data points and follow up with relevant parties for clarification.
- Prepare consolidated information for regulatory submissions, management reports, industry publications, presentations and stakeholder discussions.
- Maintain organised and reliable records of industry information and historical data.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is important for this component of the role.
6. Committee& Secretariat Management
Provide full secretariat support to assigned organization committees and working groups, including:
- Coordinating meeting schedules with senior stakeholders.
- Preparing meeting agendas and circulating meeting materials.
- Consolidating papers and submissions from member companies.
- Preparing briefing materials for the Executive Director and committee members.
- Supporting and facilitating committee and working-group meetings.
- Taking accurate and comprehensive minutes.
- Clearly documenting decisions, recommendations and action items.
- Following up with responsible parties on outstanding actions.
- Maintaining proper records of meetings, decisions and supporting documents.
The successful candidate must be comfortable supporting meetings involving senior executives and industry leaders and be capable of capturing complex discussions accurately and professionally.
7.Regulatory & Industry Monitoring
- Keep abreast of developments affecting Singapore's life insurance industry, including relevant regulations, guidelines, government policies and industry best practices.
- Monitor developments from relevant regulatory and government bodies and assess their potential relevance to the Association and its members.
- Support member consultations and coordination where industry feedback or submissions are required.
- Assist in preparing materials relating to regulatory or policy discussions.
- Develop a strong understanding of key issues affecting the Singapore insurance and financial services industry.
8.Confidentiality & Governance
- Handle confidential, commercially sensitive and member-specific information with a high degree of discretion.
- Recognise that member companies may be competitors and ensure sensitive information is appropriately managed.
- Maintain proper documentation, information controls and governance standards.
- Exercise sound judgement when dealing with confidential discussions, industry data and regulatory matters.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Insurance, Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications or additional training in communications, project management, insurance or financial services would be advantageous.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within:
Insurance or financial services
- An industry/trade association
- Corporate communications or public relations
- Regulatory or government affairs
- Industry programme/project management or
- Stakeholder/member engagement.
- Experience within the insurance, banking or broader financial services industry would be highly advantageous because of the regulatory and stakeholder-heavy nature of the position.
- Candidates from PR/communications backgrounds should ideally have experience managing corporate or institutional communications, rather than primarily consumer marketing or advertising.
- Experience working with senior management, regulators, government agencies, industry bodies or corporate stakeholders would be strongly preferred.
