ETAP Study Engineer – Job Description
Role Overview:
Responsible for performing power system studies using ETAP to ensure safe, reliable, and
efficient operation of electrical networks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and validate electrical network models in ETAP based on project data and
drawings.
• Perform Load Flow (Power Flow) Studies to evaluate voltage profile, power factor, and
system loading.
• Conduct Short Circuit Studies as per IEEE / IEC standards.
• Carry out Protection Coordination Studies including relay setting calculations and unit
protection.
• Perform Arc Flash Analysis in accordance with NFPA (NFPA 70E).
• Execute Harmonic Analysis and recommend mitigation measures as per IEEE 519.
• Perform Motor Starting Studies and transient analysis where applicable.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, study assumptions, and recommendations.
• Coordinate with design, protection, and project teams for data collection and validation.
Required Skills:
• Strong proficiency in ETAP
• Good understanding of power system components: transformers, cables, generators,
motors, and protection devices
• Knowledge of relevant standards: IEC, IEEE, NFPA
• Experience in relay coordination and protection schemes
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams (SLD) and vendor data
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• 2–8 years of experience in power system studies
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in utility, industrial, or oil & gas projects
• Familiarity with other tools like PSS®E or PSCAD
