Job Description

We're Hiring: Power Electronics Engineer

Gurgaon | Full-Time | Core Team

LAT Aerospace | STOL Aircraft

At LAT Aerospace, we're building a clean-sheet Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) aircraft to transform regional air mobility in India. We're looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to design and implement lightweight, high-voltage power conversion and distribution hardware for our hybrid-electric propulsion system.

What you'll do

  • Design high-voltage (800 V) DC-DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and power modules for the aircraft powertrain.
  • Develop converter schematics, PCB layouts, magnetics specifications, cooling strategies, and packaging concepts.
  • Build and maintain system-level simulation models for power converters and distribution architecture.
  • Perform component sizing, switch selection, thermal analysis, and efficiency optimisation for aviation use.
  • Lead prototype development, including hardware bring-up, bench testing, and validation of converter performance.
  • Support integration of power electronics with batteries, motors, generators, and the overall hybrid-electric system.
  • Define HV distribution architecture: protection devices, bus segmentation, contactors, and safety logic.
  • Document designs, validation results, test procedures, and compliance considerations for internal reviews.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in power electronics design, preferably in high-voltage or high-power systems.
  • Strong knowledge of converter topologies (isolated/non-isolated), inverter design, and rectifier circuits.
  • Proficiency with SiC/GaN devices, gate-drive design, magnetics selection, and switching optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic design, multilayer PCB layout, and power-stage hardware development.
  • Familiarity with HV safety, isolation, grounding, protection devices, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Experience using simulation tools (PLECS, LTSpice, PSIM, or Simulink) for converter modelling.
  • Ability to debug high-voltage hardware and evaluate performance through testing and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of aerospace constraints: weight optimisation, thermal limits, harsh environments.

Bonus: Experience in electric aircraft, UAV propulsion, automotive EV systems, or certifiable power systems.

Why LAT

  • Core team opportunity at a high-conviction deep-tech startup
  • Real aircraft, real flying hardware, real impact
  • Build the future of sustainable aviation in India
