Job Description:
As a Power BI Lead, you will drive BI/reporting initiatives across the organization, combining deep Power BI expertise with legacy reporting knowledge (including Crystal Reports). You will lead/report development, mentor BI developers, and ensure delivery of high-quality insights that enable strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
- Migrate/translate existing Crystal Reports (and BusinessObjects/SSRS where applicable) into Power BI reports while ensuring accuracy of logic and output.
- Data modeling & transformation build efficient models using Power Query (M), DAX, and dimensional modeling best practices.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to gather/report requirements.
- Oversee report performance tuning, validation, and data quality.
- Mentor and lead junior BI developers/analysts, set best practices, and enforce BI governance standards.
- Manage Power BI Service workspaces, access controls, refresh schedules, and deployment workflows.
- Ensure data lineage between legacy Crystal Reports and Power BI datasets is validated and thoroughly tested.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in BI development with strong Power BI expertise.
- Hands-on with Power BI Desktop & Service, advanced DAX, Power Query, datasets, and dashboards.
- Experience with Crystal Reports / legacy reporting tools, including migration or rewrite experience.
- Proficient with SQL for querying and transforming data.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical thinking, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with Paginated Reports (RDL) in Power BI.
- Familiarity with SSRS, SSAS, or other BI stacks.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure SQL, Snowflake, ADF).
- Prior team leadership or project ownership experience.
