Job Description – Senior Support Engineer (PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, AlloyDB AI/Insight Studio)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Support Engineer with expertise in PostgreSQL, Google AlloyDB, and AlloyDB AI/Insight Studio to support mission-critical cloud database platforms and data-driven applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database operations, performance optimization, troubleshooting production incidents, ensuring platform reliability, and driving operational excellence across cloud-native data environments.

The candidate will collaborate with Database Administrators, Data Engineers, Application Teams, and Cloud Operations teams to maintain high availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise database systems.

Key Responsibilities

Database Support & Operations

• Provide L2/L3 support for PostgreSQL and AlloyDB-based production environments.
• Monitor database health, availability, performance, and storage utilization.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, database failures, replication issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive and corrective actions.
• Support database release deployments, upgrades, and patching activities.
• Ensure SLA compliance and operational excellence for database services

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory Skills

• 3–10 years of experience in Database Support, Production Support, DBA, or Cloud Database Operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with Google AlloyDB.
• Knowledge of AlloyDB AI / Insight Studio capabilities and database observability concepts.
• Strong SQL development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
• Experience analysing execution plans and optimizing database workloads.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience in incident management, problem management, and RCA.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
