Childcare Teacher, supervised by the Childcare Program Administrator
This position is responsible for providing a fun and stimulating learning environment for preschool children,
with an additional focus on sharing the Alutiiq culture.
- Develop a stimulating and creative program suitable for preschool children. Help them learn through
movement, social emotional, and outdoor activities.
- Introducing routines that students will be exposed to in school.
- Providing a warm atmosphere of acceptance and nurturing encouragement where students will feel
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques (storytelling, educational play, dramatic play, media, etc.) to
- Encourage independence through positive self- image for each child. Help them develop their social
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments while modeling best
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are always safe. Always know the
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background. Parents and Staff who
- Collaborate with Administrator and co-teachers.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
- Participate and complete all required trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is a plus; if not currently held, a willingness to pursue it as part of a training plan developed at the start of employment is encouraged.
- Ability to obtain pediatric first aid and CPR certification (we can help support this process if not already certified).
- An associate degree in a related field is preferred, but not required. In place of a degree, we welcome candidates with at least two years of relevant and successful work experience who can demonstrate the ability to meet the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience working with children in a group setting (e.g., teaching, daycare, camps) is strongly encouraged.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Able to provide three references upon request.
