POS Software Engineer

Job Title: Senior POS Software Engineer (Windows / Hardware-Integrated POS)

Salary: 20,000 INR/month

Shift: 5:00 PM 1:00 AM IST

Location: Remote (must have personal laptop and internet)

Contract to Start (Potential Long-Term / Full-Time)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced POS Software Engineer to design and build a Windows-based Point of Sale (POS) system that integrates with industry-standard retail hardware. This role requires strong experience with hardware-integrated POS systems, not just web applications.

You will be responsible for building a reliable, offline-capable POS application that integrates with barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers, weighing scales, and payment terminals.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop a Windows-based POS application

Integrate POS hardware using OPOS / vendor SDKs

Implement offline-first transaction handling with reliable sync to cloud backend

Integrate semi-integrated payment processing (PAX terminals)

Develop receipt printing and cash drawer control

Handle scale-based item sales (by weight)

Build role-based access control (manager, cashier, admin)

Implement auto-update and deployment mechanisms

Troubleshoot hardware, driver, and integration issues

Collaborate with backend and product teams

Required Technical Skills

Core Technologies

C# / .NET 6+ (preferably .NET 8)

WPF or WinForms for desktop applications

Strong Windows OS knowledge (services, installers, drivers)

POS & Hardware Integration

Experience with OPOS / JPOS

Receipt printers (Epson TM-T88, ESC/POS)

Cash drawers (printer-driven kick)

Barcode scanners (HID / SDK-based)

Weighing scales (Datalogic or similar)

PAX payment terminals (A35, A920, or similar) using semi-integrated processing

Data & Sync

SQLite / SQL Server Express

Offline queueing and sync strategies

REST APIs (JSON)

Nice to Have

Experience deploying POS systems in retail, grocery, or convenience stores

PCI-DSS awareness (semi-integrated payments)

MSIX, WiX, or Inno Setup experience

Auto-update systems (ClickOnce / MSIX)

Azure or AWS backend exposure

Experience supporting multi-store or franchise environments

Deliverables

Fully functional Windows POS application

Hardware integrations validated on real devices

Installer package for Windows deployment

Technical documentation and deployment SOP

Support during testing and go-live phase

What Success Looks Like

POS installs cleanly on a Windows register

All hardware devices function reliably

POS works offline and syncs when online

Payments process securely via PAX terminals

Store staff can use the system without technical assistance

Must-Have:

• Prior proven experience growing Instagram accounts
• Experience in SaaS product promotion (non-negotiable)
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
• Ability to create viral and creative content using AI or editing tools
• Willingness to work 5 PM 1 AM IST
• Own laptop and reliable internet connection & Video Editing software
