About The Role

We are looking for a curious, hands-on Validation Research Scientist who can turn plant tissue culture science into practical, scalable solutions for APAC Population Development & Trait Integration (PD&TI). This role offers the opportunity to shape and advance doubled haploid (DH) production, embryo rescue, plant regeneration, and other tissue culture technologies—helping translate scientific innovation into stronger, faster breeding pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pioneer and optimize microspore culture protocols that enable efficient, reproducible, and scalable DH production.
  • Establish and validate embryo rescue approaches that unlock opportunities from incompatible and wide crosses.
  • Create robust in vitro shoot regeneration systems that accelerate trait integration and breeding applications.
  • Fine-tune culture media, plant growth regulators, and environmental conditions to improve embryogenesis, regeneration, rooting, and plant recovery.
  • Design thoughtful experiments, uncover insights from data, troubleshoot biological responses, and translate discoveries into dependable protocols.
  • Drive tissue culture workflows from initiation and multiplication through regeneration, rooting, acclimatization, and transfer to controlled environments.
  • Connect tissue culture outcomes with greenhouse and growth chamber evaluations to ensure seamless progression through the pipeline.
  • Partner closely with breeding, DH, trait integration, and controlled-environment teams to turn scientific advances into meaningful improvements in pipeline efficiency.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Breeding, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in plant tissue culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in microspore/anther culture, embryo rescue, plant regeneration, or doubled haploid technologies is preferred.
  • Strong capabilities in experimental design, data analysis, protocol optimization, troubleshooting, and scientific documentation.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary breeding and research environment and contribute scientific ideas with curiosity and initiative.
