Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and politically astute Video Editor to join our dynamic
communications team. This role requires both technical editing excellence and a nuanced
understanding of public policy and political messaging. You will craft compelling visual narratives
that make complex policy issues accessible to the public, amplify our organizational voice, and
support strategic communication objectives across research and advocacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Video Production & Post-Production
Edit technically polished short-form and long-form video content for diverse digital
platforms including social media, campaigns, websites, YouTube, Instagram, X, and
Execute comprehensive post-production workflows including color correction, sound design
and mixing, and file optimization for various distribution channels
Ensure consistent technical quality and professional polish across all deliverables
Strategic Content Development
Collaborate with content and campaign teams to conceptualize and storyboard engaging
video content
Develop explainer videos, interview segments, campaign advertisements, event highlights,
and speech edits
Transform dense policy research and text-heavy content into clear, compelling visual
narratives
Visual Storytelling & Design
Apply cinematic techniques including pacing, rhythm, music selection, and visual effects to
maintain audience engagement
Create and integrate motion graphics, dynamic text overlays, animated elements, and
branded transitions
Maintain consistency with organizational and campaign branding guidelines across all video
content
Design thumbnails and supporting visual assets to maximize reach and engagement
Rapid Response & News Cycle Management
Produce timely content under tight deadlines in response to breaking news, political
developments, and emerging policy discussions
Execute quick turnarounds while maintaining accuracy, message integrity, and quality
standards
Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and urgent communication needs
Asset & Workflow Management
Maintain organized digital archives of raw footage, project files, graphics, and completed
assets
Establish efficient retrieval systems for long-term content reuse and reference
Optimize workflows to enable scalable production across multiple concurrent projects
Qualifications
Experience
Proven track record as a Video Editor, ideally within political campaigns, news organizations,
think tanks, advocacy groups, or media agencies
Portfolio demonstrating expertise in policy-focused or politically oriented video content
Technical Expertise
Video Editing Software
Advanced proficiency in industry-standard editing platforms: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut
Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
Motion Graphics & Visual Effects
Strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects for animation and motion design
Ability to create sophisticated visual elements that enhance storytelling
Design & Asset Creation
Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva for thumbnail creation and graphic
assets
Understanding of visual hierarchy and design principles for digital platforms
Domain Knowledge
Strong grasp of political landscape, current affairs, and public policy issues
Ability to ensure content relevance, factual accuracy, and message alignment
Understanding of political communications and advocacy strategy
