We are seeking a Plumbing Lead Engineer to join an integrated, multi-discipline A/E Process team. You will be responsible for plumbing system design and detailed engineering for US-based projects, with a focus on industries such as Advanced Technologies, Life Science, Pharma, and Food or Beverage. This role requires you to lead a team, manage project scope and budget, and perform hydraulic design calculations while ensuring compliance with all US plumbing codes and standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Organize, assign, and delegate engineering and design tasks to produce construction documents.
- Manage project scope, budget, and schedule to meet project goals.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines, such as electrical, structural, architectural, and process engineers, to develop designs.
- Independently lead plant design activities as a system leader.
- Design and engineer internal plumbing systems, including domestic cold & hot water supply, soil, waste & venting, rainwater down takes, and basement/subsoil drainage.
- Perform hydraulic design calculations for water, sewerage, and storm water systems using Excel or relevant software like Auto CAD, Revit, BIM 360, and SprinkCALC.
- Perform quality review checks for 2D/3D modeling.
- Design hot water systems, including hot water generators, domestic steam boilers, and heat pumps, as per relevant standards and codes.
- Effectively communicate with client leads to deliver the scope of work on time and with high quality.
- Develop designer effort-hour estimates for plumbing systems.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to project engineers and designers.
- Design knowledge of Fire Fighting systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, water curtains, and gas suppression systems, is required.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of US Plumbing design codes and standards, including IPC, UPC, and other relevant codes.
- Experience in plumbing system design for US-based projects.
- Hydraulic design calculation skills for water supply, sewerage, and storm water systems.
- Fire Fighting system design knowledge on sprinklers, hydrants, water curtains, and gas suppression systems.
- Experience in industrial, advanced technology, life sciences, pharma, or food and beverage sectors is preferable.
- Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience using REVIT in a BIM environment is an added advantage.
- Design knowledge of gas supply systems and HVAC systems will be an added advantage.
QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
