PLC Programmer

Company Description Kahan Controls, founded in 2003, is a young and dynamic company specializing in controls, automation, and technological products for the refrigeration industry in India. The company began as the sole distributor for Dixell Italy and now exclusively represents more than eight multinational companies in the Indian market. Kahan Controls serves major OEMs, contractors, and end customers, establishing itself as a key player in refrigeration controls and automation. To drive future growth, the company is expanding its focus into the HVAC building automation and IBMS market, aiming for a significant share in this segment.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site PLC Programmer role based in Chennai. The PLC Programmer will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and commissioning PLC-based control systems for refrigeration and HVAC applications. Daily tasks include developing logic, configuring input/output modules, integrating sensors and actuators, and troubleshooting control panels during installation and service. The role involves collaborating with project engineers, documentation of control sequences and wiring diagrams, and providing technical support to internal teams and customers. The PLC Programmer will also assist in optimizing system performance, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards, and supporting upgrades or modifications to existing installations.
Qualifications

• Strong skills in PLC programming and configuration for industrial automation systems, preferably in refrigeration and HVAC applications.
• Experience with control systems design, including wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and integration of field devices (sensors, actuators, controllers).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance of PLC-based control systems on-site.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and interfaces (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet-based protocols) is beneficial.
• Understanding of refrigeration systems, HVAC controls, and building management or IBMS concepts is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Relevant diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project teams, contractors, and customers.
• Willingness to work on-site, travel to customer locations when required, and adapt to dynamic project needs.
