Job Description
We are looking for a Process Automation Engineer with around 1- 4 years of experience to develop and implement PLC-based automation, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, and control systems for our bio-renewable and green hydrogen applications.
The role involves PLC programming, process control, instrumentation integration, communication protocols, system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The candidate will work closely with Process, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and R&D teams.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Process Automation & Control
Develop and maintain PLC programs for reactors, process skids, and industrial equipment.
Translate process requirements and P&IDs into control logic, sequences, PID loops, interlocks, permissives, alarms, and operating modes.
Develop and configure HMI/SCADA systems for process monitoring, control, alarms, trends, and data logging.
2. Instrumentation & System Integration
Integrate and troubleshoot analog/digital field instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, pH, conductivity, and other process sensors.
Perform I/O mapping, signal validation, loop checking, and field-level troubleshooting.
Integrate PLCs with VFDs, remote I/O, analyzers, power systems, and third-party equipment.
3. Industrial Communication
Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols including PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet/IP, and RS-485.
Develop communication mappings and resolve PLC, network, and third-party equipment integration issues.
4. Testing & Commissioning
Execute FAT, SAT, I/O testing, loop checking, commissioning, and system start-up.
Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, instrumentation, communication, and control-system issues during development and site commissioning.
Verify control sequences, process responses, alarms, interlocks, and system performance.
5. Engineering & Documentation
Prepare and maintain I/O lists, control narratives, functional specifications, instrument lists, alarm/interlock lists, communication maps, and FAT/SAT documentation.
Maintain PLC program versions and automation documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
6. R&D & Advanced Automation
Develop automation solutions for pilot-scale and R&D systems.
Implement closed-loop control, data acquisition, and real-time process monitoring.
Support integration with IoT platforms, databases, dashboards, and analytics systems.
Contribute to automation solutions for bioenergy, electrochemical systems, and green hydrogen applications.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with Process, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and R&D teams to translate engineering requirements into reliable automation solutions.
Independently own assigned automation activities from design and development through testing and commissioning.
Required Skills & Experience
Around 1-4 years of hands-on experience in industrial/process automation.
Strong experience in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal preferred.
Good understanding of process control, instrumentation, PID control, interlocks, alarms, and sequencing.
Experience with industrial communication protocols and third-party equipment integration.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation drawings.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to independently execute automation projects from development through commissioning.
Good to Have
Experience with Siemens S7-1200/S7-1500, TIA Portal, WinCC, or WinCC Unified.
Experience with VFDs and motor control systems.
Experience with Industrial IoT, MQTT, Node-RED, databases, or cloud platforms.
Experience with pilot plants, process skids, reactors, or laboratory automation.
Basic knowledge of electrochemistry, renewable energy, wastewater treatment, electrolysis, or green hydrogen.
