Platform Operations Engineer India (Follow-the-Sun)

About the Role:

This role is the India leg of a follow-the-sun 24x7 operations model. You will cover overnight US hours (which align with India business hours) for non-GovCloud Apigee environments — Internal GCP, External Azure, and On-Prem. A US-based Ops Engineer handles GovCloud environments and US daytime coverage. Together, the two engineers provide true 24x7 coverage for the client platform. You will hand off incidents and platform status to the US engineer at the start of each US business day.

Key Responsibilities:

Incident Management (Non-GovCloud)

• First-line incident triage for Internal GCP, External Azure, and On-Prem Apigee environments during India business hours

• Escalation to on-call architect or US-based engineers for complex issues

• RCA documentation and remediation tracking in the client's ITSM platform

• Structured shift handover to US-based Ops Engineer each morning — clear status, open incidents, pending actions

Platform Monitoring

• Continuous health monitoring of non-GovCloud Apigee runtimes using Apigee Analytics dashboards and Splunk

• SLA/SLO tracking for overnight period; flag threshold breaches immediately

• Alert triage — distinguish signal from noise; escalate only genuine incidents

• Capacity and performance anomaly detection — report to US Architect during handover

Maintenance & Documentation

• Execute scheduled maintenance windows during India hours (low-traffic period for US environments)

• Access and account management for new users and developer portal registrations

• Knowledge article creation and runbook updates

• Participate in quarterly backup and restore drills

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years platform/application operations experience in an enterprise environment

• Experience with API gateway platforms (Apigee, IBM APIC, MuleSoft, or equivalent)

• Monitoring and observability tools: Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent

• ITSM platforms: ServiceNow or equivalent for incident and change management

• Linux system administration — log analysis, process management, service restarts

• Reliable internet connectivity and a quiet work environment for shift-based remote work

• Strong English communication skills — written handover reports are critical

Preferred Qualifications

• Kubernetes operations experience (relevant for Apigee Hybrid runtime monitoring)

• GCP Cloud Monitoring or Azure Monitor experience

• IBM APIC or DataPower operational experience

• Experience working in a follow-the-sun or 24x7 NOC model
