About Business Line/Function
CEFS IT is Global BNP Paribas CIB IT team responsible for the delivery of IT platforms and solutions for client engagement and financial services domain spread globally. It involves use of analytics, business Intelligence, ETL on datawarehouses and datalakes( OLTP and OLAP) or maintaining front end applications for client services.
Process Plus is a sub cluster of CEFS which is a center of excellence for process orchestration. Camunda is the platform chosen for process orchestration. Various business units, e.g. CIB2SGM will be leveraging the CoE to automate the orchestration of their business processes.

Position Purpose
Camunda Platform Architect is the technical leader responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the organization's processautomation ecosystem built on Camunda Platform 8/Zeebe. You will define the endtoend architecture, set standards and bestpractice guidelines, and work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, DevOps engineers, and development teams to ensure that BPM, DMN, and CMMN solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise goals
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Architectural Blueprint Draft and maintain the highlevel Camunda architecture (engine topology, clustering, multitenant strategy, HA/DR versioning) that fits the company's cloud/onpremise strategy (Kubernetes, VM, or managed SaaS).
- Platform Selection & Roadmap Evaluate Camunda Platform7 vs. Platform8/Zeebe, decide on hybrid or migration paths, and produce a multiyear roadmap with milestones, costbenefit analysis, and risk mitigation.
- Design Patterns & Standards Create reusable patterns (event driven orchestration, external task worker, job executor tuning) and enforce coding, modeling, and deployment standards (BPMN bestpractices, versioncontrol, naming conventions).
- Integration Architecture Define how Camunda will interface with ERP, CRM, legacy systems, APIs, messaging (Kafka), and data stores; provide contract specifications (REST/OpenAPI, gRPC).
- Security & Compliance Design authentication/authorization (Keycloak, LDAP, OAuth2/JWT), dataprivacy (GDPR, PCIDSS), auditlogging, and accesscontrol models for process instances and decision tables.
- Performance & Scalability Engineering Size clusters, configure async executor, job acquisition, history level, and database sharding; conduct loadtesting, capacity planning, and set SLAs for latency and throughput.
- Observability & Governance Implement monitoring (Prometheus), logging (ELK/EFK) and operational dashboards (Camunda Operate/Optimize, custom Grafana panels). Define governance processes for changemanagement, versioning, and release approvals.
- CI/CD & Infrastructure as code Own the automation pipelines that build, test, containerize, and deploy Camunda process applications (Docker, Helm charts, Terraform). Ensure repeatable, rollbacksafe releases across environments.
- Mentorship & Community Building Coach developers, BAs, and other architects on Camunda bestpractices; lead internal workshops, brownbag sessions, and contribute to a CenterofExcellence (CoE) for process automation.
- Technical Strategy Alignment Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Architecture, and Security teams to ensure Camunda fits the broader technology stack (microservices, eventdriven, datamesh, APIgateway strategies).
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement Stay current with Camunda releases, Zeebe advancements, and emerging BPM/Orchestration trends; prototype proofofconcepts (e.g., workflowascode, lowcode extensions, AIdriven decision modeling).
- Stakeholder Communication Translate complex technical concepts into businessfriendly language for executives and product owners; produce architectural decision records (ADRs) and executive briefs.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- 9-12years of handson experience with Camunda Platform engine configuration, BPMN/DMN modeling, external tasks, job executor, and Camunda Operate/Optimize.
- Deep understanding of BPMN2.0, DMN1.3, CMMN (modeling standards, bestpractice patterns).
- Experience in designing largescale, missioncritical workflow platforms (microservices, eventdriven, or hybrid)
- Strong grasp of distributed system concepts: clustering, loadbalancing, fault tolerance, eventual consistency.
- Handson with Docker, Kubernetes (including Helm) and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) especially managed Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE) or Camunda Cloud SaaS.
- Experience designing REST, gRPC, and messagebased integrations (Kafka, NATS).
- Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, LDAP/Active Directory, and modern security frameworks; ability to embed security into process models and APIs.
- Proficient with Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/EFK, OpenTelemetry/Jaeger, and Camunda Operate/Optimize for KPI tracking.
- Expertise in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps pipelines;
- Strong Java (821) background, Spring Boot/Spring Cloud, and familiarity with other languages (Go, Node.js) for external task workers.
- Agile/Scrum experience, with ability to work in fastpaced delivery teams while maintaining architectural integrity.
- Excellent communicationable to present architectural concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
