Job Description

Platform Engineering (SRE) at Equifax is a discipline that combines software and systems engineering for building and running large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Platform Engineer ensures that internal and external services meet or exceed reliability and performance expectations while adhering to Equifax engineering principles.

Our culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness is key to its success. Equifax brings together people with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We encourage them to collaborate, think big, and take risks in a blame-free environment. We promote self-direction to work on meaningful projects, while we also strive to build an environment that provides the support and mentorship needed to learn, grow and take pride in our work

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain system reliability across AWS/GCP and hybrid architectures, focusing on proactive monitoring and scaling.
  • Build and maintain reusable IaC patterns using Terraform and Cloud SDKs to meet Equifax security standards.
  • Develop and optimize automated pipelines for application deployment using Jenkins and cloud-native toolchains.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for high-severity incidents; triage complex distributed systems and improve MTTR through automated runbooks.
  • Contribute to blameless postmortems to identify root causes and implement permanent remediations.

What Experience You Need:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent technical field.
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Operations roles.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS or GCP).
  • Proven experience in scripting (Bash or Python) and configuration management tools (Ansible or Chef).
  • Foundational knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Solid understanding of Linux system administration, networking (DNS, Load Balancing), and security protocols.

What Could Set You Apart:

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience integrating security scanning and compliance checks directly into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Ability to demonstrate how you've used metrics (SLIs/SLOs) to improve system availability.
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting distributed architectures and connecting the dots between disparate services.
