The Platform Administrator is responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server environments to ensure stable, high-performance database operations across the enterprise. This role combines deep technical expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, Azure cloud services, and Infrastructure as Code to deliver production-grade database solutions - including performance tuning, disaster recovery, migration planning, and security compliance. The Platform Administrator collaborates closely with application development teams, infrastructure engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable, reliable database services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on database professional who thrives at the intersection of database engineering and cloud infrastructure, ensuring continuous uptime, data integrity, and consistent service delivery across geographically distributed environments.

.Administer Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server instances, including configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance to ensure stable and secure database operations across the enterprise.

.Monitor database health and diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimizing Structured Query Language (SQL) and Procedural Language/PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL) queries while tuning PostgreSQL settings such as vacuuming, indexing, and memory allocation.

.Design and execute cutover plans to migrate on-premises and legacy databases to Azure using Azure Migrate and Azure Database Migration Service, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity throughout each transition.

.Implement disaster recovery, replication, automated backup, and failover strategies to ensure continuous uptime and high availability across all managed database environments.

.Deploy Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep and Terraform, integrating database schema changes and configuration updates into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

.Manage database tuning, user access controls, data security policies, schema design, and query optimization to deliver reliable and performant database services to internal teams and external partners.

.Advise application development teams and business stakeholders on database architecture decisions, capacity planning, and performance optimization strategies to support deployment timelines and evolving operational requirements.

.Facilitate cross-functional alignment on database provisioning, environment configuration, and resource scaling to meet project milestones and ensure consistent service delivery across multiple time zones.

.Establish database management standards, naming conventions, and governance processes to ensure consistent administration practices throughout the infrastructure life cycle, proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

.Validate database configurations against security baselines, process audit findings, propose remediation strategies for identified deficiencies, and confirm compliance with applicable data protection requirements.

.Resolve escalated database incidents and provide technical expertise to infrastructure, application, and security teams, ensuring timely root-cause analysis and knowledge sharing across geographically distributed groups.

.Communicate change management plans, maintenance schedules, and performance reports to team members and stakeholders, adapting communication approaches for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

.Document processes, standard operating procedures, runbooks, and knowledge artifacts to ensure operational continuity during transitions, enabling seamless integration of evolving team structures.

.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or equivalent related experience (required).

.Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Systems, or a related technical discipline (preferred).

.MInimum professional experience as per the Level in database administration with a focus on PostgreSQL and cloud-based database environments.

.Minimum of hands-on experience as per the Level administering, configuring, and maintaining production database instances in enterprise environments.

.Demonstrated experience with database migration planning and execution using tools such as Azure Migrate and Azure Database Migration Service.

.Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery, high availability, and automated backup strategies for managed database environments.

.Demonstrated experience deploying Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep and Terraform, integrating database changes into CI/CD pipelines.

.Experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences) is a plus.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate - Required.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) - Preferred.

PostgreSQL Professional Certification (e.g., EDB PostgreSQL Associate or Professional) - Preferred.

HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate - Preferred.

.Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals - including Write-Ahead Logging (WAL), Multi-Version Concurrency Control (MVCC), and connection pooling tools such as PgBouncer - to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.

.Strong experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, including configuration, patching, high availability, and disaster recovery setup across enterprise environments.

.Proficiency in Azure networking concepts such as virtual network integration and private endpoints, identity management using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and monitoring tools including Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

.Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep and Terraform for deploying and managing Azure resources, integrating database schema changes and configuration updates into CI/CD pipelines.

.Proficiency in scripting languages and frameworks such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating database administration tasks, maintenance routines, and operational workflows.

.Solid understanding of high availability and disaster recovery design principles, including replication, automated backup strategies, and failover mechanisms to ensure continuous uptime.

.Experience with database migration planning and execution using Azure Migrate and Azure Database Migration Service, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity during transitions from on-premises and legacy systems.

.Proficiency in database management tools including pgAdmin, Azure Data Studio, Azure Portal, and Azure Command-Line Interface (CLI) for day-to-day administration and troubleshooting.

.Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL query optimization, including vacuuming strategies, indexing best practices, and memory allocation tuning for PostgreSQL environments.

.Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex database concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into database architecture decisions and capacity plans.

.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset and commitment to maintaining security baselines, compliance standards, and governance best practices.

.CBS - Pune office-based or Pune city-based for remote/hybrid work environment with access to necessary compute resources.

.Standard working hours with flexibility to accommodate project deadlines and team members across multiple time zones.
