Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Operations / Logistics (preferred).
- 12–16 years of experience in plant warehousing operations in manufacturing.
- Strong experience in ERP/WMS systems (SAP or equivalent).
- Hands-on exposure to VNA warehouses and MHE management.
- Proven ability to manage union/contract labor and multi-shift operations.
Role Purpose
The Warehousing Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of plant warehousing operations, including inbound material receipt, goods receipt posting, inventory management, and outbound finished goods dispatch. The role ensures efficient utilization of manpower, shifts, material handling equipment (MHE), and warehouse systems to deliver safe, accurate, and cost-effective warehousing operations with strong system and physical inventory hygiene
Key Responsibilities
Inbound & Receiving Operations
- Oversee receiving of all raw materials, packing materials, and consumables at the plant.
- Ensure timely unloading of inbound trucks in line with production and planning requirements.
- Validate delivery documents and ensure accurate Goods Receipt (GR) posting in ERP systems.
- Coordinate with Quality, Stores, and Planning teams for material inspection, segregation, and put-away.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Maintain system stock vs physical stock accuracy with zero tolerance for discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage, binning, labeling, and traceability of materials.
- Conduct cycle counts, monthly stock checks, and annual physical inventory.
- Investigate and close inventory variances with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure FIFO compliance as applicable.
Outbound & Dispatch Operations
- Plan and execute loading of finished goods as per dispatch schedules.
- Ensure accurate picking, packing, and documentation for dispatches.
- Coordinate with logistics and transporters to meet OTIF (On-Time In-Full) delivery targets.
- Ensure truck loading follows safety, weight, and quality norms.
Manpower & Shift Management
- Plan and manage warehouse manpower across shifts to meet operational demand.
- Drive productivity improvements through effective shift utilization and task allocation.
- Monitor workmen performance and ensure adherence to standard work procedures.
- Ensure statutory compliance related to contract labor and shop-floor practices.
MHE & VNA Operations
- Ensure effective utilization of VNA trucks, forklifts, pallet trucks, and other MHEs.
- Ensure availability, uptime, and preventive maintenance of all MHEs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and vendors to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
- Enforce safe operation practices for all material handling activities.
