Plant Manager - Changodar(Ahmedabad)

Key Responsibilities

Plant operations & production

• Own daily and monthly production plans for raised access floor panels, understructure, and associated sheet-metal components; meet volume, mix, and delivery commitments.
• Run the factory as a single integrated unit — cutting, forming, welding/assembly, finishing and packing — with clear shift targets and bottleneck control.
• Ensure drawing-to-shop-floor accuracy: interpret production drawings, control revisions, and prevent fabrication errors.
• Drive productivity, yield, scrap reduction and on-time dispatch without compromising quality or safety.
  
  

Sheet metal fabrication & tooling

• Hands-on understanding of sheet-metal processes: shearing/laser/punch, bending/press- brake, forming, welding/spot welding, and assembly of floor panels and pedestals/stringers.
• Oversee major drawing tools and dies used in raised-floor and sheet-metal production; plan tool life, maintenance, changeovers and new-tool introduction.
• Coordinate with Product Development on new profiles, panel types, understructure variants
  
  

and process capability.

Powder coating plant

• Manage the powder coating line including pre-treatment, booth/oven parameters, film
  
  

thickness, colour control, adhesion and finish quality.

• Ensure coating plant uptime, consumable planning, environmental compliance and operator
  
  

competence.

Maintenance

• Own preventive and breakdown maintenance of fabrication machines, drawing/press tools
  
  

and the powder coating plant.

• Reduce unplanned downtime; maintain critical-spares discipline and machine history.
  
  

Quality, product development & compliance

• Work with the Quality Head on in-process checks, incoming material control, finished-goods
  
  

standards for raised flooring (dimensional, load, finish) and customer complaints.

• Support Product Development on proto-to-production handoff, first-article approval and
  
  

process standardisation.

• Ensure statutory compliance: factory licence, labour, safety, pollution control for
  
  

coating/pretreatment effluent, and good housekeeping.

People & HR

• Lead and review heads of Production, Quality, Product Development and HR; set KPIs and
  
  

hold weekly operations reviews.

• Oversee manpower planning, shift rostering, training, industrial relations, discipline and a
  
  

safe work culture.

• Partner with HR on recruitment of shop-floor and supervisory staff, performance issues and
  
  

statutory HR compliance.

Systems & engineering exposure

• Use AutoCAD and SolidWorks outputs for production planning, fixture/tool discussion and
  
  

drawing control (working knowledge required; expert designer not mandatory).

• Maintain production records, MIS for the MD, and cost awareness on material, labour and
  
  

Technical skills

• Strong shop-floor command of sheet-metal processes and finishing (powder coating).
• Working exposure to AutoCAD and SolidWorks (read, review and discuss drawings with
  
  

Product Development and vendors).

• Comfortable with production planning, maintenance systems and basic industrial
  
  

engineering (cycle time, layout, line balancing).

Leadership & personal attributes

• Able to deal simultaneously with Production, Maintenance and HR — firm, fair and present
  
  

on the shop floor.

• Hands-on, structured communicator who can report cleanly to the MD and cascade
  
  

decisions to department heads.

• Safety-first mindset; comfortable in a Gujarat industrial estate environment (Changodar).
• Gujarati and/or Hindi shop-floor communication; working English for reports and drawings.
