Role Purpose:
To manage end-to-end HR operations at the plant level, ensuring smooth workforce management, statutory compliance, industrial relations, and alignment with corporate HR policies while supporting productivity and discipline in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manpower Planning & Recruitment:
- Coordinate plant manpower planning with department heads
- Execute recruitment for shop-floor, staff, supervisors, and contract labor
- Liaise with vendors for contract staffing
- Handle onboarding, induction, and deployment at the plant
2. Industrial Relations (IR):
- Maintain cordial industrial relations within the plant
- Handle worker grievances, disciplinary actions, and domestic inquiries
- Support negotiations with unions (if applicable)
- Ensure adherence to standing orders and labor laws
3. Statutory Compliance & Labor Laws:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, including:
- Factories Act
- PF, ESIC
- Bonus, Gratuity, Leave, Minimum Wages
- Contract Labour (R&A) Act
- Coordinate inspections and audits by government authorities
- Maintain statutory registers and records
4. Payroll & Attendance Management:
- Oversee attendance systems (biometric/manual)
- Coordinate payroll processing for plant employees and contract labor
- Ensure timely wage disbursement and statutory deductions
5. Training & Development:
- Conduct induction and safety training
- Coordinate skill development and technical training programs
- Maintain training records and compliance certifications
6. Performance & Discipline Management:
- Support PMS implementation for plant employees
- Monitor absenteeism, attrition, and productivity
- Implement disciplinary procedures as per policy
7. Employee Engagement & Welfare:
- Plan employee engagement activities at the plant
- Manage canteen, transport, PPE, uniforms, and welfare facilities
- Address employee concerns and improve morale
8. Safety, Health & Environment (HR Support):
- Coordinate with EHS team for safety initiatives
- Support safety audits, mock drills, and compliance training
- Ensure employee awareness on health and safety norms
9. HR Reporting & MIS:
- Prepare HR MIS reports (manpower, attrition, absenteeism, overtime)
- Share periodic reports with plant and corporate HR
10. Well aware of contract labour law
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of labor laws & factory operations
- Experience in handling shop-floor workforce
- Conflict management & negotiation skills
- Ability to work in 24/7 shift environments
- Good communication in local language & English
Educational Qualification:
- MBA / MSW in HR or Personnel Management
- Additional certification in labor laws preferred
Experience:
- 15 - 18 years in Plant HR / Factory HR (manufacturing background mandatory)
- Must have managed multiple plants in multiple locations
