Are you someone with plant maintenance experience who loves delighting clients by helping them solve their problems in the asset management space and adapting to change If that's you, then we are waiting for you to join our Nuclear Safety Team.

Our team within the nuclear business specializes in taking on some of the most significant engineering projects in the nuclear sector. Our business focuses on providing engineering services to the following key clients:

For EDF Energy in the UK and for Nawah Energy Company in the Middle East, we help ensure the on-going safe, reliable, low carbon nuclear generation of their power stations, and for EDF Energy we are helping with preparations for safe and efficient defueling.

Finally, we also support other clients and parts of the AtkinsRalis business covering the full lifecycle from new build through to deconstruction, defense, net zero energy projects to name a few.

Working within our Nuclear and Power business sector, as a Plant Maintenance Engineer you will work with teams to enable the delivery of AtkinsRalis technical engineering projects or work directly for our key clients embedded into their major programmes.

The project opportunities we have are varied in size and therefore responsibility levels, from delivering our consultancy engineering services, to being embedded within the client organisation delivering their engineering projects and programmes. As such we are looking for an experience (3+ Years) Electrical Maintenance professional.

Your role

  • Review and understand electrical maintenance strategies, procedures, and work instructions for power plant systems.
  • Provide technical assurance on electrical maintenance documentation including PMIs, maintenance procedures, and OEM manuals.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, singleline diagrams, and system descriptions.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation reflects correct safety principles, isolation requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Support development, review, and approval of electrical maintenance instructions and related documents.
  • Interface with electrical engineers, maintenance teams, and stakeholders to clarify technical scope and intent.
  • Support audits, reviews, and governance activities related to electrical maintenance.
  • Maintain technical awareness of applicable electrical standards, codes, and power plant safety practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance documentation and maintenance assurance processes.

About you

  • Experience in documentation review, technical assurance, or engineering support roles.
  • Exposure to preventive maintenance strategies and asset management concepts.
  • Familiarity with safetycritical or regulated industries (e.g. power generation, utilities, nuclear).
  • You enjoy working alongside a team of maintenance professionals with decades of experience across Nuclear, Oil & Gas and manufacturing industries, are flexible to adapt to changes and are exceptionally well-organized in everything you do
  • In this role you'll author complex maintenance documents and guide juniors with your industrial experience. You are expected to establish a rapport and build relationships with others, thereby being instrumental in producing quality deliverables and help win new or repeat work quickly and easily.
  • You'll love to motivate and inspire your team to make things happen.
  • Hold a recognized engineering degree.

Typical Electrical Equipment / Systems Experience Required

  • Awareness and understanding of maintenance practices associated with the following power plant electrical systems and equipment:
  • HV, MV, and LV power distribution systems
  • Generator electrical systems and auxiliary supplies
  • Power transformers and unit auxiliary transformers
  • Switchgear (AIS / GIS), including circuit breakers (ACB, VCB, SF)
  • Protection and control systems, including protection relays
  • DC systems including batteries, chargers, and DC distribution
  • UPS systems and inverters
  • Emergency power systems (e.g. EDGs, essential electrical systems)
  • Motors and motor control systems (awareness level)
  • Earthing and lightning protection systems
  • Electrical interfaces with control & instrumentation systems
