Job Summary
The Plant 3D Piping & P&ID Designer is responsible for developing accurate 3D piping models, detailed layouts, P&IDs, and associated engineering deliverables using Autodesk Plant 3D. The role supports multidisciplinary engineering teams across Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals, Conventional & Renewable Power, and Nuclear facilities, requiring strong understanding of sector-specific codes, safety standards, and high-quality design practices.
Key Responsibilities:
. Develop detailed 3D piping models in Autodesk Plant 3D for industrial, mining, power and nuclear plants.
. Route piping considering process flow, equipment accessibility, maintenance, expansion, and safety requirements.
. Incorporate sector-specific constraints such as:
 Industrial: high-volume utilities, continuous process layout.
 M&M: abrasive slurry lines, rugged environments, large equipment footprints.
 Power: high-pressure steam lines, turbine building layout constraints.
 Nuclear: strict safety-class piping, seismic considerations, redundancy.
. Develop, update, and maintain P&IDs in line with process engineering input.
. Ensure compliance with sector-relevant standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).
. Generate piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, BOMs, tie-in details, equipment layout drawings, and support drawings.
. Work closely with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, safety, and quality teams.
. Participate in 30%, 60% and 90% model reviews using Navisworks or similar tools.
. Resolve design clashes, construction feasibility issues, and ensure alignment with project execution strategy.
. Maintain consistent CAD standards, design methodologies and practices.
. Produce documentation suitable for audits.
Required Qualifications:
. Degree / Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related discipline.
Experience:
. 3 - 10+ years of piping design and 3D plant modeling experience.
. Hands-on experience with Autodesk Plant 3D and P&ID module is essential.
. Experience in one or more of the following is desirable:
 Industrial manufacturing plants
 Minerals & Metals concentrators, smelters, material handling
 Thermal, renewable, or hybrid power plants
 Nuclear power generation

Technical Competencies:
. Strong knowledge of piping systems, fittings, valves, pipe specs, and supports.
. Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, structural layouts, and vendor drawings.
. Proficiency with: Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks (for clash detection and model review).
. Familiarity with BIM workflows for Revit

Soft Skills:
. Strong communication and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
. Excellent attention to detail and design accuracy.
. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver within schedule.

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Plant 3D Piping & P&ID Designer to join our Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Mumbai. The Plant 3D Piping & P&ID Designer is responsible for developing accurate 3D piping models, layouts, P&IDs, and related engineering deliverables using Autodesk Plant 3D in support of multidisciplinary projects across Industrial Plants, Minerals & Metals, Conventional & Renewable Power, and Nuclear facilities. The role involves routing piping with consideration for process flow, equipment access, maintenance, safety, constructability, and future expansion while incorporating sector‑specific constraints such as high‑volume utilities, abrasive slurry services, high‑pressure steam systems, and nuclear safety‑class and seismic requirements. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining P&IDs based on process inputs, ensuring compliance with applicable ASME and ANSI standards, generating isometrics, fabrication drawings, BOMs, tie‑in details, equipment layouts, and construction drawings, and participating in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews using Navisworks. The designer works closely with process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, safety, and quality teams to resolve clashes, address constructability issues, maintain consistent CAD standards, and produce audit‑ready documentation.
