Planning Engineer (costing)– HighRise Residential Buildings
Job Summary
Responsible primarily for
cost estimation, quantity takeoffs, budgeting, and cost control for highrise residential projects. Also supports project planning and schedule monitoring to ensure alignment between budget and execution progress.

Key Responsibilities
- Costing & Estimation (Primary Responsibility)
- Prepare detailed BOQs, quantities, and cost estimates from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Conduct rate analysis, cost forecasting, and budgeting for all construction activities.
- Evaluate material consumption, productivity norms, and prepare cost comparison statements.
- Engage in cost control by monitoring actual vs. budgeted expenditure.
- Assist procurement with material requirement plans, vendor comparisons, and price negotiations.
- Support subcontractor billing through measurement verification and cost validation.
- Prepare cost deviation reports, value engineering proposals, and cost optimization plans.
- Planning & Scheduling (Secondary Responsibility)
- Support preparation of project schedules (MSP/Primavera).
- Monitor progress vs. planned schedule and flag critical delays.
- Assist in developing resource plans (manpower, materials, machinery).
- Prepare progress dashboards, Scurves, and monthly progress reports.
Qualifications & Skills
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- 5–12 years of costing/estimation experience in highrise residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, rate analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
- Working knowledge of MS Project/Primavera for schedule tracking.
- Strong analytical, numerical, coordination, and communication skills.
