Role Objective
The Placement Coordinator serves as the vital bridge between the academic excellence of MIT SOFA and the dynamic creative industry. You will be responsible for identifying internship and career opportunities for students across Applied Arts, Painting, and Sculpture, ensuring that our artists and designers transition seamlessly from the studio to the professional world.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Relations & Networking
- Build and maintain a robust network of industry partners, including Advertising Agencies, Design Studios, UI/UX Firms, Animation Houses, and Art Galleries.
- Organize and execute campus recruitment drives, industry visits, and Portfolio Review sessions with industry experts.
- Secure Industry Projects (Internships) for students as per the MIT SOFA curriculum / requirements.
2. Student Mentorship & Training
- Collaborate with faculty to help students develop strong professional portfolios that meet global industry standards.
- Conduct workshops on soft skills for artists: professional etiquette, pitching creative ideas, and negotiation.
- Guide students through the registration process on placement portals
3. Data Reporting
- Maintain accurate MIS reports on student placement progress, internship completions, and recruiter feedback.
4. Branding & Outreach
- Promote MIT SOFA talent through various exhibitions and other public showcases to attract potential recruiters.
- Market student achievements and the school's creative capabilities to national and international stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferably in Fine Arts, Design, HR, or Management).
- Experience: 25 years of experience in placement coordination, corporate relations, or talent acquisition (experience in a Design/Art institute is a major plus).
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the creative landscape (UX/UI trends, advertising cycles, and the art market).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interface with both high-profile recruiters and creative students.
- Organization: Proven ability to manage large-scale events (Job Fairs, Seminars) and maintain detailed databases.
