JOB OVERVIEW
The Engineer ensure the implementation of 24/7 methodology is maintained at the Manufacturing shopfloor.
The Engineer is responsible to supporting daily production by managing cutting tools, fixtures, and tool room operations, ensuring tools are prepared, measured, issued, and maintained accurately and safely to support CNC machining operations.
The role also involves liaising with all relevant vendors, including tooling suppliers, machine builders, compressor and utility providers, and solution vendors, to support production needs. He actively participates in studying and implementing improvements to production processes, works with engineering teams on optimization initiatives, and planning of preventive maintenance program for all the the machine equipment maintenance and calibration schedules.
The position also requires daily use of Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel for data tracking and analysis, PowerPoint for reporting and presentations, Outlook and Teams for communication, and PowerBI for data analysis.
The position focuses on tooling readiness, cost control, equipment reliability, quality compliance, and continuous improvement to meet production and quality requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Operation
-Manage cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and accessories
-Monitor tooling usage, tool wear, and tool life
-Handle tool purchasing activities and control tooling inventory levels
-Use ERP system and Microsoft 365 daily for tooling records, reporting, and communication
-Maintain tool room equipment, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards
-Planning of machine equipment preventive maintenance program and calibration schedules.
Quality Assurance
-Ensure tooling meets required specifications and machining standards
-Support inspection of tools and fixtures before use
-Follow up on tooling-related non-conformities and assist in root cause analysis
-Ensure proper documentation of tooling data and inspection records
Maintenance & Safety
-Ensure compliance with tool room safety and environmental requirements
-Follow workplace safety protocols, including PPE usage and hazard reporting
-Perform basic tool room equipment checks and escalate issues when required
Production Support
-Support production by ensuring timely availability of tools and fixtures
-Coordinate with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to meet production targets
-Liaise with tooling and automation vendors for technical support, trials, and improvements
-Study and evaluate new cutting tools, holders, and tooling solutions
-Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering MFG team to improve production processes, tool life, and machining efficiency
-Support tooling trials, data collection, and analysis for continuous improvement initiatives
Engineering Support
-Look into, review, and evaluate machine and equipment upgrading opportunities
-Support assessment of new machines, equipment, or system enhancements to improve productivity, reliability, and efficiency
-Coordinate with vendors and engineering teams for upgrade studies, proposals, and implementation planning
FY Budgeting
-Plan and manage yearly tooling requirements and machine-related budgets
-Prepare annual tooling, machine, and equipment budget forecasts
-Monitor actual spending against budget and support cost control initiatives
-Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for FY budgeting, quotations, and planning
