Piping Stress Engineer

Job Purpose:

To provide Piping Stress Engineering services / support to Turnaround (TA) and Project engineering activities at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex.

Provide Engineering support to a small / large portfolio of Capital Works Projects & Turnarounds.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Perform piping flexibility and stress analysis using software such as CAESAR II
• Evaluate piping systems for thermal expansion, sustained loads, occasional loads, vibration, and fatigue.
• Prepare stress analysis reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Review piping layouts, support locations, and equipment nozzle loads.
• Design and specify piping supports, spring hangers, restraints, and expansion joints.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as:
• ASME B31.1
• ASME B31.3
• ASME Section VIII
• API Standards
• Coordinate with piping, structural, civil, mechanical, and process engineering teams.
• Review vendor data and validate equipment allowable loads.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and project meetings.
• Support site activities, troubleshooting, and field modifications when required.
• Compliance - Ensure that piping items designed with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM).
• Piping Class Management - Add/Modify required piping items as per project requirements, Special piping item preparation.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 8 to 12 years of experience in piping stress analysis and design (depending on position level).
• Proficiency in CAESAR II.
• Good understanding of piping materials, supports, and engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of international design codes and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
