JOB Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer with strong expertise in 2D/3D piping layout, modeling, and detailing for major EPC projects across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Water Treatment sectors.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing piping layouts, isometric drawings, and material take-offs, ensuring alignment with engineering design requirements, project standards, and construction feasibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop piping layouts, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D).
- Create and update equipment layout drawings based on process and mechanical inputs.
- Coordinate with piping engineers, process engineers, and other disciplines to ensure design integration and clash-free layouts.
- Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) / Material Take-Off (MTO) for piping components.
- Ensure compliance with project piping specifications, codes, and standards (ASME, API, ASTM).
- Support design reviews, model reviews, and issue resolution during construction or fabrication.
- Participate in as-built documentation and redlining of drawings post construction.
- Review vendor drawings and interface requirements for packaged equipment.
Technical And Industry Experience
- Sound understanding of piping systems, fittings, valves, supports, and routing in industrial facilities.
- Proficient in 3D plant design tools such as AVEVA E3D / PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or MicroStation.
- Knowledge of piping materials, fabrication, and installation practices.
- Familiarity with P&IDs, Equipment Layouts, and Plot Plans.
- Exposure to EPC project workflow from design to construction handover.
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, API, and other relevant design standards.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor's in mechanical or equivalent.
- 4 to 10 years of experience in piping design for large-scale EPC / FEED / Detail Design projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Water Treatment sectors.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, E3D / PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, or equivalent 3D modeling tools.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, spatial visualization, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of 3D model review software such as Navisworks / SmartReview is an added advantage.
