Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to support Capex projects and plant modifications in the refinery/petrochemical industry by conducting site checks, designing piping layouts, drafting, and maintaining engineering documentation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site checks and surveys to determine piping routing and support plant modification works effectively
- Design and develop detailed piping layouts for Capex and minor modification projects to meet engineering requirements
- Prepare accurate piping layouts, isometric drawings, support details, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using AutoCAD for project execution
- Create and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot Plans, and as-built drawings to reflect actual site conditions
- Assist the Engineer/Manager in maintaining the Engineering Document Management System (EDMS) to ensure document accuracy and accessibility
- Maintain and organize the Engineering Library and project documentation to support project continuity and compliance
- Coordinate effectively with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Construction teams to ensure alignment and smooth project delivery
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 years of piping design experience in the refinery or petrochemical industry
- Proficient in AutoCAD for preparing piping design drawings and documentation
- Competent in pipe routing, P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric drawings, BOM preparation, support details, and material selection
- Good knowledge of ASME, API, and ASTM standards relevant to piping design
- AWSHPP (Workplace Safety & Health in Process Plant) certification, mandatory for safe and compliant work in process plants
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Strong communication and coordination skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to conduct site surveys independently and make informed design decisions on-site
- Willingness to work in Jurong Island location
