The Candidate will be responsible for leading the piping design and engineering activities for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
This role involves managing a team of piping engineers and designers, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of piping engineers and designers.
- Allocate resources, monitor workloads, and ensure efficient execution of deliverables.
- Drive technical excellence and capability development within the team.
- Design & Engineering Management
- Oversee the development of piping layouts, isometrics, support drawings, MTOs, and related documents.
- Ensure designs comply with international codes & standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM, etc.) and project specifications.
- Review and approve design documents, drawings, and calculations.
- Ensure 3D model reviews (using PDMS / SP3D / E3D / AutoPlant / CADWorx) are carried out effectively.
- Hands-on expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is mandatory for overseeing detailed design work.
- Project Execution & Coordination
- Plan and monitor piping design activities, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and Electrical teams.
- Interface with clients, consultants, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning stages.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and engineering best practices.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in all design activities.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and standardization.
- Implement digital tools and design automation practices for efficiency improvements.
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
12–18 years of experience in piping design and engineering within EPC / Heavy Engineering / Process Plant industries.
Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial / leadership role overseeing piping design teams.
Exposure to large-scale projects in Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, Fertilizer, Refinery, or Heavy Engineering preferred.
Hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is essential.
