Job Description

Help build India's first commercial scanning electron microscope.

Today, India relies on imported electron microscopes. Bharat Atomic is changing that by building semiconductor equipment from the ground up, starting with high-resolution SEMs and electron-beam lithography. You'll work on the real instrument with a senior mentor.

Winter internship | Bhopal | In person | 4 months | Competitive stipend + accommodation provided

What you'll do

  • Simulate and test how electron beams are focused and steered. This physics decides how sharp the microscope's image is.
  • Run experiments, analyze measurements, estimate uncertainty and check results against theory.
  • Document methods and results so the team can build on them.

By the end, you'll have done real electron-optics work on a working instrument, a rare chance for a physics student in India.

Your mentor

Dr. Bhargava Ram, Electron Optics Engineer & Scientist. You'll work alongside our engineers and scientists every day.

You might be a fit if you

  • Are a third-year or final-year undergraduate in Physics, Engineering Physics or a related field, including BS-MS students.
  • Have strong fundamentals in electromagnetism, mechanics and mathematics.
  • Have done a lab or simulation project and analyzed data in Python or a similar tool.

We care more about what you've built than your CGPA.

How to apply

Apply on LinkedIn with your CV. In it, highlight one experiment or simulation you're proud of: what you found, what you personally did, and one thing that didn't work the first time. Make sure your degree and year are on it.
