About the Role
We are looking for experienced PHP Backend Developers to contribute to annotation and RLHF initiatives focused on backend services, APIs, and server-side application logic. In this role, you will review and annotate real-world PHP codebases, analyze pull requests and feature implementations, execute and interpret test suites, and provide structured human feedback on correctness, security, performance, and backend best practices. Your expertise will help train AI models to reason accurately about PHP backend architectures, frameworks, and production-grade development patterns.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and annotate PHP backend code, patches, and pull requests for RLHF and AI training datasets
- Evaluate backend logic, business workflows, and API behavior for correctness and edge cases
- Annotate differences between correct and incorrect implementations, identifying bugs, security issues, and design flaws
- Review framework-specific code such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar MVC frameworks
- Analyze database interactions, ORM usage, migrations, and query performance
- Ensure annotations are accurate, consistent, and aligned with defined quality and reasoning guidelines
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and data teams to continuously improve dataset quality
Required Skills & Experience
- 17 years of hands-on experience in PHP backend development
- Strong knowledge of PHP fundamentals and modern PHP versions
- Experience with backend frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and backend service architecture
- Experience working with SQL databases and ORMs (Eloquent, Doctrine, etc.)
- Familiarity with PHP testing tools such as PHPUnit
- Comfort working with Git, pull requests, and large backend codebases
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and written communication skills for producing high-quality annotations
- Experience with performance optimization, security best practices, or distributed systems is a plus.
