About the role:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Photo and Video Editor to join our communications team. This role requires a creative professional who can capture compelling visual stories and produce high-quality video content that advances our mission and engages diverse audiences.

What This Role Demands

The Photo & Video Editor role demands a hands-on visual storyteller who can plan and execute photography and videography for events, field activities, and campaigns, and transform this material into high-quality videos, documentaries, explainers, podcasts, and digital content. The role requires strong technical skills in shooting and editing, a sharp eye for visual storytelling, and the ability to collaborate closely with program and communications teams to convey complex social issues clearly and impactfully. The candidate should be detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple projects, willing to travel for field documentation, and motivated by creating content that supports advocacy, awareness, and social change aligned with SaveLIFE Foundation's mission.

Key Responsibilities

1. Photography & Videography

• Plan and execute photo and video shoots for organizational events, field activities, and campaigns

• Capture high-quality footage and photographs that tell impactful stories aligned with SaveLIFE Foundation's mission

• Coordinate with program teams to document on-ground interventions and stakeholder engagements

• Manage photography and videography equipment, ensuring all gear is maintained and ready for use.

2. Video Production & Editing:

• Produce and edit explainer videos, documentaries, campaign videos, and social media content

• Edit podcasts and interview-style content with attention to pacing, audio quality, and visual engagement

• Create compelling visual narratives that effectively communicate complex social issues to diverse audiences

• Develop storyboards and scripts in collaboration with the communications team

• Ensure all video content meets organizational brand guidelines and quality standards

3. Content Management

• Maintain an organized digital asset library of photos, videos, and project files

• Archive and catalog content for easy retrieval and future use.

• Prepare final deliverables in multiple formats optimized for various platforms (web, social media, presentations, etc.)

Key Competencies and Skills:

• Hands-on experience with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and professional video equipment

• Understanding of different shooting formats, frame rates, and resolution standards

• Ability to work with various file formats and codecs

• Knowledge of current video compression and export standards for different platforms

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-3 years of professional experience in photography, videography, and video editing (freelancers with demonstrable work experience with clients are also encouraged to apply)

• Strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in producing and editing explainer videos

• Proven experience editing long-form content such as podcasts, interviews, and documentaries

• Excellent technical skills in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar)

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator)

• Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, lighting, and colour grading

• Experience with motion graphics and animation (desirable)

• Knowledge of audio editing and sound design

Personal Characteristics

• Prior experience working with NGOs, social enterprises, or organizations in the development sector (desirable)

• Understanding of social impact storytelling and advocacy campaigns

• Experience creating content for digital platforms and social media

• Knowledge of accessibility standards in video production (subtitles, captions, etc.)

• Basic skills in graphic design and illustration
