About the Project

Research Problem

  • Massive volumes of Multispectral, Hyperspectral, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data create challenges in storage, transmission, and real-time processing.
  • Effective integration of complementary spectral, spatial, and structural information from heterogeneous sensors remains a significant research challenge.
  • High dimensionality, data redundancy, and varying sensor characteristics often limit the accuracy and efficiency of Earth observation systems.

Objective

  • Develop AI-driven frameworks for multi-sensor data fusion, hyperspectral band selection, data compression, and image reconstruction.
  • Design intelligent and computationally efficient models for extracting meaningful information from multisource remote sensing data.

Expected Outcomes

  • Novel deep learning models for Multispectral–SAR and Hyperspectral–SAR data fusion.
  • Efficient band selection, compression, and reconstruction techniques for high-dimensional remote sensing data.
  • Improved accuracy reduced computational complexity, and enhanced interpretability of Earth observation products.

Eligibility

Candidates with any of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

• M.Tech./M.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, or related disciplines.

• M.Sc. in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, or allied fields with a strong quantitative background.

Desired Skills

• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or related scientific computing environments.

• Knowledge of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Image processing.

• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras and experience handling large-scale datasets.

Prior research/publication experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Funding & Research Support

✅ Fellowship of ₹30,000–₹40,000 per month, with enhanced opportunities up to ₹55,000 per month
