Job Purpose

To support the Section Head - E&I in ensuring maximum availability, reliability, and safe operation of Wagon Tippler and Utility Electrical systems, thereby enhancing plant productivity at an optimum cost. The role involves supervising and coordinating electrical operation and maintenance activities related to power supply and distribution systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, panels, cables, lighting systems, and utility electrical installations across plant and colony areas. The position holder is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to critical WT and utility equipment through effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance practices, while maintaining adequate and costoptimized electrical spares inventory in alignment with business requirements. The role emphasizes strict adherence to UltraTech Cement safety standards, statutory electrical regulations, maintenance SOPs, and PF/WCM guidelines, with a focus on quality workmanship, operational safety, cost control, and continuous improvement to support production, logistics, and utility operations.

Job Context

Aligarh Cement Works - Harduaganj, a unit of UltraTech Cement Limited, is located at Village Kasimpur, Tehsil Koil, District Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh). The unit is a grinding and packing facility with an installed capacity of 4.5 MTPA, commissioned in May 2009.

The plant is equipped with advanced cement grinding technology, including closecircuit Ball Mills with HighEfficiency Separators and 2 Ã- 12spout Rotary Packing Machines, enabling efficient production of UltraTech Cement across various blended grades. The primary raw material, clinker, is sourced from Vikram Cement, Khor (Madhya Pradesh) and Aditya Cement, Shambhupura (Rajasthan).

The majority of production comprises fly ash-based cement, with fly ash sourced from the Aligarh Thermal Power Station, while finished cement is predominantly supplied to markets in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The plant operates with a stateoftheart DCSbased Expert System and a fully equipped modern laboratory, ensuring optimized operations, reduced energy consumption, and consistent product quality.

Within this environment, the PF Electrical (WT & Utilities) role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable power supply, electrical equipment availability, and utility system stability, supporting continuous cement grinding, packing, dispatch, and Wagon Tippler/utility interfaces. The role contributes to achieving key business objectives such as:

  • Reduction in specific power consumption
  • Enhancement of fly ash handling and utilization up to design capacity
  • High system availability with full statutory and safety compliance

Major Challenges

  1. Maintenance under Continuous Operations
    Limited availability of electrical equipment for maintenance due to continuous plant operations and high dispatch volumes, necessitating precise planning and swift execution of maintenance activities.
  2. Ensuring YearRound Equipment Availability
    Maintaining optimum availability of Cement Mill, Packing, WT (where applicable), and Utilities electrical systems throughout the year through disciplined preventive and predictive maintenance to consistently achieve production targets.
  3. Energy and Resource Optimization
    Optimizing electrical operations to improve overall business performance by reducing power consumption, supporting efficient fuel usage, and maximizing fly ash utilization, while maintaining system reliability and safety.

Plant Availability

1. Ensuring preventive maintenance activities as per plan for Electrical equipment's
2. Ensuring timely and orderly completion of planned Jobs in shutdown by proper scheduling and preparations
3. Workout to fulfil the material & manpower requirement.
4. Study stoppage report and take corrective action.
5. Supervise & coordinate electrical maintenance activities to maximize the plant availability.
6. Taking plant round, supervise maintenance jobs, coordinate with other dept. / Sections for plant performance improvement job.
7. Identify the abnormalities & unsafe conditions at site and doing modifications / upgradations on continuous basis to improve plant performance.
8. Analyses the frequent problems, tripping, breakdowns.
9. Identify areas requiring improvements.
10. Carryout why-why analysis, review drawings / specifications.

Cost Optimization

1. Accurate projection of demand for material requirement to avoid stacking up of inventory.
2. Time Preparations of PR / PO's and Reservations slips for issuing material.
3. Driving cost saving activities in the section by Proposing and implementing action plan for power optimization.
4. Controlling Overtime
5. Preparing power reports for monitoring electrical consumption.

Management Information System

1. Ensuring timely submission of monthly MIS
2. Ensuring timely submission of Section Provisions like Flash Cost, Bills, PR etc.
3. Timely and accurate preparation of Presentations, Reports etc as required by Management from time to time
4. Supporting and handling various internal and external audits.

Shutdown Jobs Performing

1. Prepare the job list for shutdown as per priority for the plant.
2. Proper Job planning for shutdown jobs.
3. Planning of contractor jobs to be carried out and raise service work order accordingly.
4. Spare parts planning for major shutdown jobs as well as fulfilling day today basis requirements.
5. Planning and procurement of advanced good quality tools and tackles for fast execution of jobs

KRA5

System Management
(Effective implementation of all IMS and other systems requirements through involvement for continuous improvement in plant working condition & quality standards)

-To implement improvement project to reduce repetitive problems/breakdown or losses.
-Timely submission of Kaizen, OPL, Good to fine, suggestion on system
-Developing and sustaining Model area in respective sections
-100% active participation in respective KFA & GRT meetings and giving inputs related to bring new technology, innovation and improvements towards productivity. Conduct awareness programs down the level team
-To know about IMS and other systems requirement and documents for Non-Conformity in section during internal and external audits or assessments.
-Implementation of critical spares & consumable SOP without any defilement
- Identify & arrange rectification of leakage points/unsafe points along with monitor & take corrective action for emission levels.

Focus on SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) along with Sustainability initiatives

1. Ensuring 100% compliance of all safety standards and all applicable recommendations related to their concerned area.
2. Educating team about I know my job, I know the hazards associated with my job and I applied control measures & I escalate to my senior among manpower deployed in sections/department manpower including peer, WB & CL manpower
3. Timely conducting scheduled SO round and reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses on occurrences in the area of concern in system.
4. To conduct daily Tool Box Talk as schedule and before start the job any critical job along with SWP
5. Active participation in safety training, safety sub committees, standard champions meeting and any safety event
6. Ensure good housekeeping, limited use of power, no leakage of water, oil, air etc and reporting concerned if any abnormalities for corrective action
7. Adhering of all safety precautions on the site and off the site
8. Replicating good practice for saving environment for long run sustainability and creating awareness among manpower to save guard natural resources.
