Role Overview
We are looking for a senior Performance Testing / Performance Engineering professional to build and drive performance testing capabilities. The role involves working closely with business and technology stakeholders to identify business-critical performance requirements, define non-functional requirements (NFRs), select appropriate tools, and establish end-to-end performance engineering practices for BFSI applications.
This is a high-ownership role requiring both technical depth and consultative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
. Work with business stakeholders, architects, and product owners to identify businesscritical user journeys and performance expectations.
. Define and document Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) including response time, throughput, scalability, availability, and resilience.
. Design the performance testing strategy, including scope, approach, tools, environments, and success criteria.
. Evaluate, recommend, and implement performance testing tools based on application architecture and business needs (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad).
. Build reusable performance test frameworks, scripts, and test assets.
. Execute various types of performance tests:
o Load, Stress, Endurance, Spike, Scalability, and Volume testing.
. Perform end-to-end performance analysis across application, middleware, database, and infrastructure layers.
. Identify system bottlenecks and collaborate with development, DB, infra, and architecture teams to recommend optimizations.
. Define performance baselines, SLAs, and release performance gates.
. Establish performance reporting, dashboards, and governance processes.
. Provide performance sign-off recommendations for releases.
Mandatory Skills
. Strong hands-on experience with performance testing tools:
o JMeter
o LoadRunner
o NeoLoad
. Proven ability to design performance testing frameworks.
. Excellent understanding of performance engineering concepts and best practices.
. Strong analytical skills for result interpretation and bottleneck identification.
Domain Experience
. Mandatory experience in BFSI domain (Banking, Financial Services, Payments, Trading, Insurance, etc.).
. Strong understanding of BFSI system characteristics such as:
o High transaction volumes
o Peak load scenarios (market open, batch cycles, settlements, regulatory events)
o Regulatory compliance and reliability requirements
Technical Skills (Good to Have)
. Strong SQL / PL-SQL for database performance validation.
. Linux/Unix system monitoring and troubleshooting.
. Experience with APM & monitoring tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Grafana etc.).
. Experience with Log Analysis using tools like Splunk, DataDog
. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating performance tests into DevOps workflows.
. Exposure to performance testing in cloud or hybrid environments (AWS/Azure).
. Familiarity with capacity planning and workload modeling.
Soft Skills & Expectations
. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
. Ability to translate business expectations into measurable performance requirements.
. Experience working with global teams and UK shift timings.
. Proactive mindset with ownership-driven delivery.
