We are seeking a
Performance Engineer to design, execute, and optimize performance strategies for large-scale, low-latency, high-throughput payment systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production readiness, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical applications operating in distributed environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement application and infrastructure performance models for highly scalable, low-latency, and highly available systems.
- Define and execute end-to-end performance testing strategies, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing.
- Partner with architects and development teams to ensure appropriate performance instrumentation and metrics are embedded within application components.
- Evaluate, develop, and execute performance test tools to validate system limits of critical applications.
- Analyze APIs, integration patterns, and distributed system abstractions to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Establish performance baselines, certification criteria, and Go-Live readiness reports.
- Monitor application performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities across CPU, memory, disk, network, OS, and application layers.
- Contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
- Support triaging and troubleshooting of performance degradation incidents in production environments.
- Review application code and recommend performance optimization techniques.
- Document performance test cycles, scripts, methodologies, results, and recommendations.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in performance engineering, performance tuning, analysis, or application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments, OS internals, file systems, storage, and networking protocols.
- Working knowledge of virtual machines and containerized environments.
- Expertise with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, or equivalent.
- Experience with APM tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, OPNET, or similar.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Python, along with scripting capabilities.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
